About this mod Machine translation

Added a new alchemy perk that increases the duration of potions.

I'm always disappointed that there's no way to increase the duration of beneficial potions, such as Fortification and Resistance effects.

This is especially an illusionary opportunity for a revitalizing system, given that we have a ringing tree clearly filled with poisons and paths to healing.

Instead, we got the “experimenters.” Assuming you don't regularly add new ingredient expansions, a quality life perk with a limited shelf life might not even last past the final level of the Alchemy skill requirement.

Since I don't usually want to overhaul Perks, I made my own.

A new two-level perk based on the experimenter's old spot on the "perk tree":

-dose-

Level 1: Potion duration extended by 50%. (60->90) - Requires Alchemy 50.

Level 2: Potion duration extended by 100%. (60->120) - Requires Alchemy 80

But wait! There's more!

The Experimenter is still on the tree and functions much the same as it did in vanilla, but now it acts as a bridge between poison and healing paths, allowing you to skip poisons or benefactors, giving you greater flexibility and associated benefits by developing your alchemy skills.

Now, the fact that a perk called "Experimenter" gives you mechanically similar benefits to other alchemies is so thematically true that I'm more proud of this relatively simple mod than I have any right to be.

Happy brewing!

I was always disappointed that there was no way to increase the duration of beneficial potions, like Fortify and Resistance effects.

It especially felt like a missed opportunity for the perk system given we have a perk tree clearly routed with Poison and Healing paths.

Instead we got "Experimenter." An ok-ish quality-of-life perk with a limited shelf life that likely wouldn't even last till the Alchemy Skill requirement for its final rank, assuming you're not adding new ingredient expansions on a regular basis.

Since I'm generally not interested in sweeping Perk overhauls, I took matters in to my own hands.

Taking Experimenter's old spot on the Perk Tree is a brand new two-rank perk:

  • Measured Dose -

Rank 1: increases Potion duration by 50%. (60 -> 90) - Requires Alchemy 50.

Rank 2: Increases Potion duration by 100%. (60 -> 120) - Requires Alchemy 80.

But wait! There's more!

Experimenter is still in the tree, functioning much the same as it did in vanilla, but, it now acts as a bridge between the Poison and Healing paths, allowing you to skip either Poisoner or Benefactor, giving you more flexibility with developing your Alchemy skill and gaining its associated benefits.

The fact a perk called "Experimenter" now allows you to gain mechanically similar benefits in to other forms of Alchemy is also so thematically appropriate that I am far prouder of this relatively simple mod than I have any right to be.

Happy brewing!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
