MARCO'S MEALS

As the inedible Sancho Panza once said: "With the dead in the grave, and the living on the bread!" In short, this mod makes Skyrim's food look as delicious as it looks. Nearly every food has a spicy new take on it, with nutritional value for every lifestyle. Additionally, there are some wonderful tweaks to the hunger mechanic in survival mode to encourage you to be more proactive about the food you eat, rather than just feeling like you're managing rice. This mod was taste-tested with Survival Mode in mind, but it doesn't require you to have Creation Club Survival Mode if you're on a diet.

feature

Raw meat, flour sacks, and butter have no special buffs, other than token hunger restoration and a small amount of stamina restoration. Raw fruits and vegetables and cooked foods have low-power, long-lasting buffs (usually 5 minutes) with a variety of effects.

The bread regains its strength in seconds. Baked goods include this effect as well as additional buffs.

Alcoholic beverages have also been given new effects - as a general rule, they reduce your stamina regeneration by five minutes. (Wine reduces magicka regeneration)

Skooma has a new effect: it massively empowers your magic and stamina, but significantly reduces their regeneration while in effect.

Some recipes have been changed. Elves Ear, Frost Mirriam and Garlic are commonly found in the kitchen and now you need them to cook some of the most delicious stews!

[Required to Survive] The "Fed" benefit, instead of giving a slight buff to stamina regeneration, now adds a slight health regeneration. Still much slower than the default HP regeneration, but now you won't be relying on healing potions or magic for increased healing. It's worth noting that I'm not giving any food health restoration effects - that's how food interacts with HP now.

[Need to Survive] The two least satisfying hunger recovery levels have been alleviated a bit. Food that originally only restored 2 hunger now restores 18, and food that used to restore 18 hunger now restores 90.

Installation and compatibility

If you don't own Survival mode, or you just don't want the last two features listed above, install the "No Survival" version. Otherwise, install the regular version. Either way, just drag and drop the .ESP file into the Skyrim Special Edition/Data folder and activate. Or, you know, just use the mod manager of your choice.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
