Ever wished you could replace a boring static logo in the middle of the screen and didn't like the Replacer provided?
Does the same "Dragonborn" titelsong always get on your nerves?
Don't worry, now you can create your own Replacer.
Provided in the zip you can find the basic folder structure, the logo.nif file (don't delete it), wallpaper.dds which you can name however you like, as well as mus_maintheme.xwm (don't rename it, replace it with your file) and a photoshop default file where you can pass the image to the correct resolution. For this you need a tool that can work with .psd files and a tool that converts images to .dds files (I recommend Photoshop, which this was created with)
Tutorial
- Background replacement:
- - DOWNLOAD MANUALY, DO NOT USE MOD MANAGER TO DOWNLOAD
- - Extract the downloaded file into a new folder or simply unzip it on your desktop
- - Open Wallpaper-DEFAULT.psd in your photoshop or corresponding program and also open the image you want to use as background.
- - Correct the size of your image to fit the transparent space so that it matches the black frame
- - If your program does not support it, save the file as (YOURNAMEWALLPAPER).dds via Photoshop or (YOURNAMEWALLPAPER).jpg/png/bmp.dds Filesaving
- - Not required if you use PHOTOSHOP - open .dds converter and convert wallpaper to .dds
- - Navigate to \Main Menu Creation Kit\textures\interface\objects and replace "MMCKWallpaperBLANK.dds" with .dds ___OBSOLETE if you are doing this in a new folder
- Music replacement:
- - Use a converter to convert the track you want to use in the main menu to get the .xwm file and rename it to "mus_maintheme.xwm"
- - Navigate to \MMCK\music\special and replace the file there with "mus_maintheme.xwm"
- Repackaging:
If you don't use a mod manager, you don't need to package these files. In this case, just convert the "Mesh" folder in MMCK and the "Music" and "Textures" folders in your working location to the "Data" folder of your Skyrim Special Edition installation (usually like this: \Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data) and enjoy your new main menu
If you followed these steps on your desktop:
Create a folder named after the replacer, and then create a "data" folder within it. Move the "Mesh" folder from MMCK to the new Data folder, then move your working "Music" and "Textures" folders from the desktop to the new "Data" folder.
Use a packaging tool like WinRar, WinZip or Win7 in the new folder.
If you identify these steps in a new folder:
Move the "Grids" folder from MMCK to this folder
Pack the folder into a zip archive.
- Install
Just install new archives manually via Mod Manager (Add Archives Manually)
Activate the mod (let it overlay), load the game, and enjoy the new main menu.
Future plans:
- Add sample pictures
- Add animation frame

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
