About this mod Machine translation
Improve Skyrim's magic resistance system by adjusting players' magic resistance so that every point of magic resistance is equally useful.
describe:
Skyrim uses a linear damage reduction formula. This means that the more resistance you already have, the more powerful the magic resistance becomes. Once you reach a certain level of magic resistance, you'll barely take any magic damage even on Legendary difficulty.
This mod rescales the player's magic resistance so that every magic resistance point is equally useful. Raw resistance, which is the magic resistance you have in vanilla, is used in the formula to calculate rescaled resistance, which will be the player's magic resistance.
feature:
Has low magic resistance and better protects against magic damage
You'll still take damage from high resistance, and fighting mages and dragons will still be challenging
No more useless magic resistance thanks to the resistance cap: it's almost impossible to have more magic resistance than you can use with the new formula. You need over 250% of the original resistance to reach 85% of the rescaled resistance
Compatible mods to add or change magic resistance effects
Second hand formula:
This graph shows the effect of this mod on magic resistance:
For example, if you had a total of 100% original resistance, your character would end up with 67% re-resistance. In vanilla, you'll hit the 85% cap by then. The difference is huge. To reduce damage by 67% you still need 33%, which is more than double the 15% you need to reduce damage by 85%!
The difference in the picture above may seem small. To better understand how damage reduction affects your survivability, active health should be considered. Effective health multipliers tell you how much damage you must take to lose 1 point of health. For example, with 75% damage reduction, you would have to take 4 points of damage to lose 1 point of health. In other words, each point of health is four times the health.

This image shows how magic resistance is altered by this mod:
For example if you have 100% original resistance in total, your character would end up with 67% rescaled resistance. In vanilla you would have reached the cap of 85% by that point. The difference is massive. With 67% damage reduction you still take 33%, which is more than twice as much as the 15% you take with 85% reduction!
The difference might look rather small in the picture above. To have a better image of how damage reduction impacts your survi …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
