Q: How do I get armor in the game?
A: You can make armor at the blacksmith shop. The pistol in the main download is only available through the console or AddItem menu. Search the console for "Mage Hunter Flintlock" to find them.
Question: Are handguns really useful?
Answer: The pistol in the main download does not fire. They are purely attachments for taking screenshots and attach to the hand when equipped. There is a version for right and left hands.
