Rideable crates from Skyrim! Ported to SE

Lootable Crates SE. From Skyrim LE

Version 2.0.2

describe

Have you ever wondered why you can't loot crates in Skyrim? This mod is now possible. This mod was ported here from my original version of Skyrim.

How is this mod different from the original Skyrim version?

  • I rewrote the mod from scratch, converting all vanilla chests into containers, including all DLC world spaces and cells.
  • No crazy edits, ITMs or deleted quotes.

3.I forwarded USSEP and all DLC changes

I removed the tier list changes on furniture. There are many other mods that can do this.

What remains the same?

  • Port and keep the same level list to match the old version (with a few adjustments to balance the chance of locking)

This mod tries to stay as vanilla as possible by not making items overly powered.

The mod also attempts to add items into meaningful containers. For example, smaller crates should not contain large items such as hammers, etc. Large chests have a chance to include larger weapons, pelts, etc.

Known issues

Unlike static objects, containers cannot use materials. So the snow box change is no longer snow accumulation. Since materials cannot be applied to containers, textures must be created for the snow box variations. If anyone wants to make textures for me let me know. Texture is not my thing.

  • There are several crate forms that are actually open crates that have been replaced with containers. I'll fix this in the next update.

compatibility

  • If any mod adds new crates they will most likely use vanilla statics and therefore won't be containers. The way I solved this problem was to create a patch or use this mod as master and replace all added packages with the base form referenced by: 'AHZ_{vanillaCrateName} CONT'
  • Without a patch, any mod that modifies the original reference (such as changing the location) will be incompatible.
  • This mod does not modify the level list, it only adds new ones, so the impact with other mods should be minimal.
  • I added a patch for JK's Skyrim in the optional files section of jkrojmal.

Require

Just basic vanilla esm files. USSEP is recommended but not technically required. This mod is used to forward USSEP changes, so it is highly recommended for maximum compatibility.

Install

Install using NMM, Vortex or MO2, or add the esp file manually. For load order, I recommend installing this mod before any mod that changes world space or cell objects.

resection

Just remove esp. There is no script. However, it is always better to install it.

My other changes

More HUD SE

Immersive Dawnguard Dayspring Pass SE (IDDP)

What stayed the same?

  • I ported and kept the same leveled list to match the old version (with a couple a tweaks to balance the chance for lockpicks)

This mod attempts to keep the vanilla feel as much as possible by not making items too over powered.

The mod also attempts to add items to containers that make sense. For example, the smaller crates should not include large items such as hammers, etc. The large crates have a chance to include the larger weapons, pelts, etc.

Known Issues

  • Unlike static objects, containers cannot have materials applied. Therefore the snow crate variations are no longer snow covered. Since materials cannot be applied to containers, textures would have to be created for the snow …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
