Long Yin speaks naturally
Requires Dll Loader for xSHADOWMANx
about
This mod adds speech recognition to SkyrimVR or SkyrimSE so that you can speak lines of dialogue out loud to select them.
Compatible with SkyrimVR and SkyrimSE
Install
- Install the Dll Loader of xSHADOWMANx
- Download the latest archive and extract it to the SkyrimVR/Data or SkyrimSE/Data directory
- (Optional) If you need to set the language locale as needed, it defaults to the system installation language. This can be changed by modifying the /Data/Plugins/Sumwunn/DragonbornSpeaksNaturally.ini file and restarting the game.
How to use
When the dialog menu appears, try reading the line aloud and then selecting the line.
Additionally, you can specify a "goodbye phrase" for exiting the conversation and bind custom phrases to arbitrary console commands to execute them outside of the conversation.
To use these additional features, create a new DragonbornSpeaksNaturally.ini file and adjust it as needed. Here is an example:
[dialogue]
Goodbye Phrases = I will talk to you later; this chat is enough for now
[ConsoleCommands]
give me all arrows = player.additem 00038341 999999; player.additem 00034182 999999
give me some coins = player.additem f 100
die die = killall
troubleshooting
If the DSN isn't working, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Check the "dragonborn_speaks.log" file in the Skyrim installation directory (next to SkyrimVR.exe). If it doesn't exist, it means the mod is not loaded. In this case, make sure you have the DLL Loader installed and make sure you install the DSN to the correct location: SkyrimVR/Data/Plugins/Sumwunn/
- If the dragonborn_speaks.log file exists, it means the mod has been initialized. Check your My Documents/DragonbornSpeaksNaturally/DragonbornSpeaksNaturally.log file for any errors indicating that the DSN failed to start correctly. Please post an issue containing the contents of this log on the Bug Report tab.
- If the log file looks good, double-check that your preferred microphone is set to default after SteamVR launches. Also, double check that the microphone is not muted and that the volume is reasonably high (sometimes too high a volume can cause recognition issues).
notes
- This mod will use your system default microphone input, if you need to change your microphone you will have to restart SkyrimVR after doing this.
- The HTC Vive microphone is not the best, so voice recognition may not work well.
- Maximize speech recognition accuracy by eliminating as much background noise as possible and make sure your microphone volume is turned up.
- This mod needs to be hooked directly into Skyrim, which means it will break when Skyrim is updated. I will keep this mod up to date with the latest versions of SkyrimVR and SkyrimSE as soon as possible.
how does this work
DSN works by hooking directly into the Skyrim code that updates the dialogue menu. It also starts a background service to handle speech recognition. When a background service recognizes a line of dialogue, a Skyrim hook is executed to select the voice line.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
