Classic version
describe
The Light Needle Bow is a crossbow variant crafted from Assassin. It is not a weapon of combat, but a tool of an evil alchemist.
I've spent a lot of time online looking for something to suit my weak alchemist character, but I can't find any mods that I feel are suitable.
I couldn't sleep one night so I decided to make one.
Optional
There is now an optional painless version that does not cause hostility or break invisibility.
- If you don't like some balance in another version, or you just want to kill with it, use this version.-
statistics
Light Needle Bow is a new product, forged from 2 Firewood and 2 Steel Ingots.
Needle bolts are also forged from 1 firewood and 1 steel ingot (lot of 15).
The bow deals 0 (technically 0.001, keeping hostility) and has a weight of 5.
Bolts also deal 0 damage, are less affected by gravity than regular bolts, and travel much faster.
They also penetrate deeper, so they don't float off target like vanilla bolts.
Miscellaneous.
-Both bows and bolts are found under the Forgery Other category-
(I didn't want it to require perks so it could still be used by those who avoid leveling crafting skills)
- Bows use bow firing sound instead of crossbow firing sound, so the sound is weaker and more discreet -
(This is mostly because I find the vanilla crossbow to be loud and clunky)
- Attacking NPCs is considered an attack like a normal weapon, so if you don't want to get the bounty, stay hidden -
(see options file for non-hostile version)
- A clever alchemist can use it instead of damaging -
(Your followers will be the only ones who will take this form of help. NPCs don't like getting shot at!)
- Another interesting interaction: NPCs under the influence of paralysis can pickpocket all their items without failure -
- If you find any other interesting ingredient combinations share them in the comments! -
Require
- Latest Skyrim installation -
-Dawnguard-
-Dragonborn-
Recommended Mods
(I don't know if these apply to SSE)
- Some recommended patterns related to this -
dynamic potion
no poison dialogue
(In my opinion, any poison must have)
Thanks
GhostBustThat is the port.

The Light Needle Bow is a new item, crafted at a forge from 2 Firewood and 2 Steel Ingots.
The Needle Bolts are also crafted (in batches of 15) at a forge from 1 Firewood and 1 Steel Ingot.

Misc.
- Both the bow and the bolts are found under the miscellaneous category of the forge-
( I didn't want to make it require perks, so that it could still be used by people who avoid leveling crafting skills)
-The bow uses a bow firing sound rather than a crossbow firing sound, so that is sounds both weaker and more stealthy-
(This was mostly because I felt the vanilla crossbow sounds loud and clunky)
-Attacking NPCs counts as assault just like normal weapons …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
