One of my favorite things about TES Morrowind is the ability to levitate once you become a powerful mage. Then they took it away from me, thanks to console limitations in Oblivion, and then Skyrim, where cities were enclosed in inner cells and the dream ended. Well, no more!

Now you will be a proper mage. again.

This mod adds expert level changing spells:

Referee floats

Custom sound effects for float casting and concentration loops (see video).

Magicka costs are carefully balanced.

Carefully balanced Alteration Leveling

DualSun floating animation

(1) Do you include floating animations in your mod?

Yes, it's included.

(2) What does this mean? Why did you design it as a concentration spell?

Inquisitor Levitate is a concentration spell. This is how I envision it. If you want to levitate you should cast it and keep casting it with one hand as long as you want to fly, stop casting it and you will fall (eventually die), this is because Skyrim does not allow casting fall (unlike Morrowind), you can cast other spells with the other hand, be careful not to complete your magic while flying or you will end up like Icarus.

(3) How about balance? Is the spell overpowered?

Consider that if Magistrate Levitate is used at low levels it is a magicka drain and you may experience untimely deaths. In the video, I'm playing as my character, a level 50 wizard with 93 in Alteration, and a 600 Magicka pool. That's why it doesn't look like it consumes much mana, and trust me, it does.

(4) Will I encounter any adverse effects in the game?

It's possible. The vanilla game doesn't expect players to fly around, so be careful when flying as you may find the occasional invisible wall/ceiling, or end up getting stuck somewhere you shouldn't be when internal cells levitate. Fortunately, the release of Open Cities Skyrim solved the biggest problem in the vanilla game, which was the inability to enter/exit cities while flying.

(5) Are there any known issues?

Unfortunately, Skyrim doesn't allow setting specific animations for individual spells. As the referee levitates a "focus spell" over the float animation, you will see that the float will be used* For other focus spells you may hold (most notably healing, but also other spells such as pyro), the problem can be solved by using FNIS PCEA2 will limit such animations to your character only. Unfortunately, I know of no workaround. You get the floating animation for all focused spells, or you don't get any and you'll end up "going skyward" instead of floating.

(6) Will you make a Toggleable version?

There are no plans yet. I designed this spell as I envisioned it.

(7) What is the story behind this mod?

I found an old module for J3X online that adds something interesting...a flying broomstick. I removed the broom and converted it to a proper floating spell, then I added an animation floated by a DualSun (with permission of course) and used that spell. I want to levitate, but I'm not interested in building some super-powered spell, so I'm trying to carefully balance magic cost, speed, etc.

(8) Why does it take so long to convert Levitate Revamped to Skyrim SE?

I haven't been in the modding scene for a while. Then I came back and I started playing again and gradually I started converting my oldrim mods to Skyrim SE, but I'm following up on the conversion of "Levitate Revamped". Then, one day, I was playing a new character. I need to climb 7.000 stairs to High Hrothgar. I was killed three times in a row. Every …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
