Leafeater's Windhelm Tree Overhaul
Ah, Windhelm, the snowiest province in Skyrim. Full of mystery, adventure and historical significance. I mean, sure there's still a lot of murder and a little bit of racism (ok maybe a lot) but I mean, nothing is perfect right? I always enjoy coming here. However, since I am someone who likes his cities to be full of vegetation, I couldn't help but notice the overall lack of the latter. I always despised other Windhelm tree models, they either added too much or too little. How did the ever-loving F*** plant a tree on top of that house? Who planted an entire weird forest on top of the castle? Viola walked around the frickin tree, it wasn't that hard! ah! Where is the balance?
This mod does what my others struggle to do. My Windhelm overhaul added trees as well as minimal shrubs, moss and flowers. I didn't want the place to look as colorful as Riften, but I still wanted some color and a reasonably believable placement of the trees.
This mod should not interfere with any NPC movement. However, I didn't test it during the Civil War missions, so if any of you encounter any issues with NPC movement or notice any interference in the final battle (Imperial side) then please let me know and I will fix it. As with most tree models, there may be some clipping of the buildings depending on which tree model you use. I used an enhanced vanilla tree and the clipping was barely noticeable, if not obvious. If you have any questions please post an email and I'll follow up. Should be compatible with SFO and other tree models anyway.
The Skyrim version of JK will be released soon.
Mod has been cleaned using SSEEdit.
Unlike my Whiterun overhaul, you don't need to disable this mod when spawning lods.
Be sure to check out Leafeater's Whiterun Tree Overhaul as well as Leafeater's Solitude Tree Overhaul. Both are Vanilla and JK Skyrim compatible.
Intstallation:
Install like any normal mod. All it contains is an esp. Just use your Mod Manager or just manually drag the esp into the data folder of the Skyrim directory and enable it using your Mod Manager.
How to uninstall:
Just delete it from the mod manager or manually go to the data folder and delete it. Removing mid-game should be fine since it simply adds trees. But as with all mods, uninstalling mid-game is not recommended.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
