Butterfly's dream comes true
I don't want to create a mod when I absolutely must have one. The butterflies in Skyrim are one of the most enjoyable aspects of the atmosphere and the most addictive aspect of the game, at least for myself. I really hope they land where they're supposed to. It always drives me crazy, having to pass a hovering butterfly that's 3 feet taller than the plant it's supposed to be perched on. I really wanted to have someone else create this mod since I knew what it needed, but now that it's finally done I can get back to looking at the best looking butterflies in Skyrim.
Mod does the following:
Fix all butterfly landing areas in Skyrim via the following two methods:
1- All direct drop zones have been inspected, adjusted and fine-tuned to optimize placement. If the landing zone is close to perfect and in a good perch, rotate it (almost no landing zone has rotation/orientation data, 99% of them point in the same direction) and fine-tune it. If the landing zone is cut into something, pushed into the middle of plants, or hovered in the air, adjust it to the closest feasible landing zone for placement, then rotate and fine-tune it.
2- All indirect landing zones were reviewed by observing the behavior of butterflies, their interactions with plants and then identifying the worst offenders from the list of available landing zones. This form list is a list of plant types that butterflies can land on, with different variable landing zones on them. Sometimes the butterfly comes close, sometimes not. Sometimes not at all. If you see butterflies lingering near a plant but not on it, it may be due to the variability of the remaining indirect landing zone list plants.
IMPORTANT NOTE: BLT was originally built with USSEP as a master file, so all landing zone adjustments will be fully coordinated with any changes made to USSEP. Once completed, the "Master File" requirement will be removed as there is no need other than to align all landing zones with the USSEP. BLT works best when used with USSEP. If you don't use USSEP, BLT will still work fine and will still provide a huge improvement over the original landing zone.
Mods will not:
1- Add new content, or delete existing content.
2- Modify anything except direct landing zone placement and indirect landing zone form list.
Compatibility:
Compatible with almost everything. Load as early as possible in the load order.
NOTE: If the mod adjusts a region, it will overwrite its data as-is. If another mod adds new plant types to the Form List, it will overwrite the Form List and allow the Butterflies to land on all those plants again, giving the Butterflies a higher chance of hovering. In this case, if you don't want to use all the horrible indirect drop zones again, you'll have to create a patch, or modify the mod's form list to your personal preference.
NOTE: Mods that change the mesh of plant meshes, grass meshes, tree meshes, and other objects in the world where the butterfly's landing area is located may cause clipping or hovering of the butterfly due to these changes to the mesh. BLT should still improve landing zones compared to the mods you see in Vanilla Skyrim with these mods installed, but patches may need to be created for maximum immersion.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
