About this mod Machine translation
If you play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim with an Xbox 360 or Xbox One gamepad for Windows, you may have noticed how difficult it is to access favorites and use the quicksave/quickload functionality, especially if you're used to accessing hotkeys 1-8 of them on your keyboard. Kontrol alleviates this frustration.
Kontrol adds the ability to quickly select 8 hotkeys on the d-pad of your Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller. This is accomplished by using the four cardinal direction buttons for the first four hotkeys, then holding down the "Shift Button" (LB or "Sprint" button) + the same four cardinal directions for the last four hotkeys. This mod also gives you the ability to quick save, quick load, open the inventory menu, open the map, open the magic menu, and autorun from your controller without having to navigate the regular menus. Just press one of the previously unassigned vanilla buttons listed in the LB+ image or details section.
Main features:
•Extended default Skyrim D-pad hotkeys. Instead of just two hotkeys, you can use up to eight - all on the D-pad!
- Access eight of your favorite items, spells, shouts and powers with these new hotkeys.
•Ability to load quickly/quickly. No need to use a keyboard or navigate menus!
•Access inventory, magic and map via the normal untouched main menu (B) or open them directly from the controller!
•Use the controller to automate for super lazy gamers who don't want to keep pushing the stick left...
•Compatible with other mods, except mods that modify controller schemes.
•Controller buttons remain the same as in vanilla Skyrim - no entirely new layout to learn! I just had to move the favorites (from D-pad Up to LB+Y) to make room for Hotkey 1!
•Compatible with Oldrim. There are no scripts, .esp or anything that affects the saved game file, it's just a controlmap.txt edit!
detail
In fact, instead of having two favorites accessible for the default Skyrim client, Kontrol has added hotkeys for favorites, menus, and actions as follows:
Hotkey 1: D-pad Up
Hotkey 2: D-pad right
Hotkey 3: D-pad Down
Hotkey 4: D-pad Left
Hotkey 5: LB + D-pad Up
Hotkey 6: LB + D-pad right
Hotkey 7: LB + D-pad Down
Hotkey 8: LB + D-pad left
Quicksave:LB + Start
Quickload:LB + Back
Favorites menu: LB + Y.
Quick inventory menu: LB + B.
Quick map: LB + A.
Quick magic menu: LB + X.
Autorun: LB + R3
Default actions/buttons not listed here remain consistent with vanilla.
As you use this mod, try adding your most used spells, shouts, powers, and items to your favorites. Then, access your favorites menu (LB + Y) and browse your favorites. To assign a favorite hotkey slot (of which you can have up to 8), simply hold down the button associated with that slot.
For example, if you have a favorite item, such as a sword, and want to easily access it by pressing LB + D-pad left, simply open your favorites menu (LB + Y), browse to the sword, then hold LB + D-pad left for a second until you see the number next to the sword (in this case, the number will be "8", as in "Hotkey 8"). Now, when that troll charges you with your bow and you want to hit it with your sword a few times, press LB + D-pad Left. If you just press the D-pad left, it will equip whatever you assigned to hotkey 4.
Troubleshooting and help
+ If you don't notice any changes the first time you use this mod, for example you still only have two buttons with favorite hotkeys, then browse to the \steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\ folder and delete or rename ControlMap_Custom. txt to something else. If you still have problems, delete controlmap.txt in \steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Interface\Controls\PC\. After that, put this mod's controlmap.txt there, or reinstall the mod using your mod manager.
+ If you can't stop sprinting and use a shift combo while moving - eg. You are doing a quicksave (LB+Start) while you are moving your character. Your character will not stop after letting go of the left stick - just hit the sprint button (LB) …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
