4442/5000Description
When you first encounter the Kolskeggr Mine, you may not even know there's a mine there. Your first thought might be something like this: "Why is there a lonely house in the middle of nowhere?" or "Why do savages attack poor chickens?". After avenging the chicken, just move on and forget all about the place. It's not until you stumble upon a related quest that you finally learn about Pavo's former home and the only gold mine in the game. Once the task is complete, you can go back and completely forget about and ignore the area's information. This mod adds some life, activity and interest to the area. It also resolves some inconsistencies in the knowledge. Both Gat gro-Shargakh and Pavo said they were the only ones keeping it alive and that everyone else had been killed. Who are these “everyone else” and what do they do? Where do they live? Paavo's house can only accommodate two people. If Pavo hires new people, where will they live? The Kolskeggr mine is too large for two miners. Anyone who owns a gold mine can certainly hire more miners. This mod adds two random miners to help with mining, and a miner's hall for them to stay. Miners' Hall was also home to the local blacksmith and food purveyors. While there isn't really a need for a blacksmith because the Kolskeggr mines are close enough to Markarth, having a blacksmith does liven up the area. With new NPCs and services, Kolskeggr is now a worthwhile stop while you're in the area. This is a clean and stable mod that can be added or removed at any time.

notes
The new NPC will be found in the Silverblood Inn or the Left Hand Mine until the relevant quest is completed. These two businessmen are essential. Random miners are not.
If you would like some food or drinks, the Miners Hall is open to the public at noon. This is not a hotel. If you want a place to sleep, go to a hotel or sleep in a haystack in the mines.
Pavo's House next to the Miners Hall looked a bit second class so it got some upgrades.
If you break into the Miner's Hall before completing the mission, new NPCs may not appear until the cell is reset. NPCs sometimes prefer the security of an inn to moving to the Kolskeggr Mine. This may also require resetting the cells.
If you're not using the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition patch, the powerful Chicken Killer will return again and again.
Do not use Grassias if you have problems with grass cutting on the bench.
New NPCs are randomly worn. The blacksmith will randomly wear white or red blacksmith clothes. Miners will randomly wear white or brown miner clothing. Food vendors will randomly be dressed in merchant or chef attire. Her fashion sense may not be the best at times.
This mod is partially inspired by settlement expansion. If this mod doesn't suit your taste, try this mod. If the module is modular, I won't create the module. These two are currently the only mods that change the Kolskeggr area. The Miners' Hall is located in the same location as the Blacksmith's House in Settlement Expansion. This is done for compatibility reasons. If new mods are created to be compatible with one mod, there is a higher chance that they will be compatible with the other mod as well.
Modification instructions
This mod is the last of three learning mods. The first is Karthwasten The Silver Anvil and the second is Morthal Where's Wares. These mods are designed to familiarize yourself with the service. The service is something I don't need until I need it to fix the mod I want to use. This mod is also an experiment with random equipment. I'm not …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
