About this mod Machine translation

The original Khajiit Speak mod has been expanded to many popular content mods.

The thrice-honored friend offers you the brilliant moon.

If you're playing Khajiit in Skyrim, there's a good chance you've heard of mjharper's Khajiit Speak and may even be using it. This is an excellent mod that rewrites all of the base game's (and some mods') player dialogue to sound more like Khajiit's way of speaking, and also brings some much-needed humor and humor to the game.

However, it doesn't cover much, and it can be chilling when you start a new mission or talk to a new NPC, only to suddenly start talking like an Imperial trooper again.

That's where this mod comes from.

Khajiit Speak Extended is a collection of dialogue patches for popular mods that have not been covered by the original Khajiit Speak. These range from dungeon mods that add short quests, newly added NPCs, and larger DLC-sized content mods. My ultimate goal is to cover as many mods as possible and provide the most complete Khajiit Speak experience possible.

While I'm no mjharper, I've tried my best to capture the typical, somewhat quirky feel of the Khajiiti dialect. My patch is not a simple third-person rewrite - much of the content includes homages to Khajiti history, culture and religion, as well as some humor, sarcasm and even prejudice and insults. I also sprinkled in some Ta'agra (their native language) words and phrases, but they were rarely used. As a result, our player character is no longer a plain blank slate but still has many options. They're just more expressive and opinionated about them.

Hopefully you'll enjoy these patches as much as creating them. :)

Q: Can you make it so that the mod automatically detects if I'm a Khajiit and only then applies the changed dialog?

Sorry, probably not, as it seems impossible. Theoretically, I could put strings on my conversations with players...but, everyone has to do that. one. Wire. dialogue. In CK. It takes an eternity to open a window and then randomly crashes in unwelcome circumstances. Thanks, but I'd like to retain at least a modicum of sanity.

There may be some benefits from SKSE and MCM, but don't get your hopes up. Conversations aren't really something that can be opened and closed dynamically. At least as far as I know.

If you want to play another match, just uncheck or uninstall this mod (ignore the warning that the game will spit at you the next time you run it - it's harmless). The mod can only edit player dialogue, so the PC won't explode if you delete it on an existing save (otherwise, you shouldn't actually delete the mod while playing). You can always choose an adopted or racially confused orc, though - which I think would make for a very interesting game. :d

Q: I found a strange sentence/strange dialogue/strange <Alias> word!

Feel free to file a bug. But please be as specific as possible - tell me the exact line of conversation, or better yet, take a screenshot. I've rewritten hundreds of lines, and thorough testing is impossible, at least if I want to release these patches sometime this decade. If you find stupidity like this please let me know and I will correct it in the next update.

Q: Those weird words I sometimes see? Something like "fusozay"?

This is Ta Agra, the native language of the Khajiit people. I sprinkled in a few words here and there just to add flavor (or insult annoying NPCs). Even if you don't understand, you should be able to get the general idea from the context - the sentences before or after these words will usually say about the same thing.

You can find more information on Ta’agra.

Q: How close did you stay to the original conversation?

I want to be as close as possible. I didn't rewrite the dialogue into third person, though - that would be very boring, and Khajiit doesn't want to be bor …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
