About this mod Machine translation
Changing controller settings allows for key-bindable dual-hold blocks as well as 8 hotkeys for favorites or Skyui favorite groups.
The controller is set to Bindable Dual Wield Block.
This mod will optimize the gamepad layout for use with Dual Wield Blocking by changing button functionality.
While this controller layout is designed for use with DWB, you can use it without getting the 8 hotkeys (available as vanilla favorites or using the SkyUI favorites group).

New in V2.1: After much meditation and prayers to the model gods, I found a way to get 8 fully functional Favorites/Skyui groups. This is the new controller layout:
Installation guide if you don't use Skyui and want to use the 8 regular collections:
Download and install like any other mod and you're good to go!
Installation guide if you use Skyui and want to use Skyui favorite groups:
- Download and install Gamepad++ here.
- After installing Gamepad++, install this mod. Allow this mod to overwrite Gamepad++ when prompted.
- Optional: Download and install the controllermap optional file, this will add the image above to the Gamepad++ MCM menu so you can inspect the controls in your game.
notes:
Gamepad++ is a requirement which allows Skyui groups to be assigned to
Multi-button hotkeys (e.g. LB+dpad). Without it you won't be able to do it
Use SkyUI group.
Gampad++ is not ported to SSE, it is an Oldrim mod, so you have to install it manually. A generation
Tested it and it does work in SSE. The only issues I've noticed are a $ appearing before a word or two in the start menu, and the first time you open the favorites menu you get a warning saying you're using the wrong version. It only appears the first time you open the favorites menu after loading the game, and then stops showing. Personally I think they are very very minor issues and I'm happy to be able to deal with them, if you haven't casually ported Gamepad++ to SSE then it will work without a problem ;)
How to install Gamepad++ manually:
Click Manual Download on the Gamepad++ page to save it to an easy-to-find location.
Open NMM and click the small + button in the upper left corner.
Find the file you just downloaded (GAMEPAD Plus Plus v3.1-85278-3-1-2.7z), select it and press OK.
It should now appear with your other mods, select it and install it as normal.
How to set up/use this mod:
If you want to use regular collection:
It's exactly the same as normal, but for anyone who might not know;
Open the favorites menu.
Highlight the item you want to favorite and press the button combination you want to assign.
Example: Assign a healing potion to hotkey 1
- Go to the menu, highlight Healing Potion and like it
- Open the "Favorites" menu (LB + B)
- Find and highlight healing potions
- Press LB + D-pad, a small 1 will appear next to it
Now when you press LB+dpad you will use the potion.
The process is the same for weapons/armor/spells/powers.
If you want to use SkyUI favorite groups:
Things get a little complicated, but not too much :)
First load the game, making sure Gamepad++'s MCM menu is displayed. It may take a few minutes to appear. Once it appears and you know everything is installed correctly, you can start setting it up.
- Open the Gamepad++ MCM menu.
- Unplug the controller so you can use the keyboard.
- Using your keyboard, assign LB+Dpad to F1-F4, then RB+Dpad to F5-F8.
******DO NOT assign anything to DPAD or it will not work properly (more info below)************
- Go to SkyUI MCM menu. Still using your keyboard, assign the SkyUI group to the F1-F8 keys.
- Reinsert the controller.
You should now create some SkyUI groups and test it out.
How to assign hotkeys to Dual Wield Blocking:
First make sure you have Key Bindable Dual Wield Blocking (requires SKSE + FNIS, if you don't have them yet then download these first, link in the requirements section of KBDWB)

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
