JK's Skyrim Patch - Fix ugly vanilla totems and ivy (beautiful Whiterun and Solitude)
JK has done a great job revamping Skyrim's cities, but unfortunately modders have neglected the meshes and textures without the new 2020 upgrades. I used vanilla assets (foliage, banners, other miscellaneous ones that do have amazing texture updates before 2020) to mask some of the annoyances. Check out the before and after images.

Minor repairs to Whiterun and Solitude make your stay more aesthetically pleasing. I may update this mod with other cities such as Markarth, Riften and Windhelm if needed.
Whiterun---Cover the ugly vanilla totem base with leaves, woody debris, and planter debris.
---Added some extra wooden walkways as part of the vanilla assets I used to mask the base.
---Added some stone or wooden assets to cover up harsh seams or edges
Solitude --- Eliminated all the horrible moss/ivy wall textures that were present and replaced 50% of them with standard Ivy/Jazby/Hangingmoss and the rest just
Fruit wall to save performance.
---Cover ugly columns and some wall bases with planters to hide situations where the texture is stretched or the texture doesn't look clear due to the grid shape
Install ---Install JK'Skyrim, then overwrite it with my patch.
---In-game installation should be safe, but I tend to try and not change the configuration while the game is in progress.
Best Tips for Whiterun Aesthetics -
Skyrim Landscape Overhaul - Stone Walls - The Stone Wall mod with more 3D looking stones is highly recommended, this mod is useful due to the realistic textures, but there are other relationships elsewhere.
Whiterun Concrete Wall Top - I'm using several walls in this patch that are close to eye level, and I've always found that most of the textures from other mods look bad in the way they stretch on the wall mesh. The concrete texture fits any wall texture you might have in your color scheme and still looks good with a reasonable amount of detail/noise.
Does your game look different? ---My screenshots are affected by the textures and meshes I installed, so results may vary. If you like what you see here are some of the main mods but I've installed them that help with the look in the images:
Skyrim 3D trees and plants
Skyrim 3D Rocks
Skyrim 3D Pier and Boardwalk
Skyrim 3D Stone Wall
Why? ---The texture and mesh of those vanilla hurt my eyes.
Inquiries --- JK If you have any questions about this patch, please contact me and we can hopefully work it out.
Credits --- jkrojmal and everyone who helped out with JK'Skyrim (who did most of the work creating the main mod that I tinkered with). Additionally, God Howard and the Bugthesda team have created an excellent base game platform for modifications.

bare walls to save on performance.
--- Covered ugly pillar and some wall bases with the planter to mask texture stretching or textures looking off because of the mesh shape
Installation --- Install JK' Skyrim then overwrite with my patch.
--- Should be safe to install mid-game but I tend to try and not change my configuration during a playthrough.
Suggestions for best possible Whiterun aesthetic ---
Skyrim Landscape Overhaul - Stone Walls --- A stone wall mod with more 3d looking stones is highly recommended, this mod is great because of the realistic textures but there are others.
Whiterun Concrete Wall Top --- I have used several walls in this patch that are …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
