Parallax is the best thing since cutting bread on SE at the moment, I'm surprised that even on LE there's never been an automated tool to actually set up the grid for parallax. At least, I couldn't find anything.
With some Googling and referencing the scripts in Kriffin's AllGUD SE, I was able to piece together a script that batch processes the meshes to add parallax to them. Hopefully this means new parallax versions will include mesh patches for other mods, as this script removes most of the work beyond creating textures.
what it can do
Set shader type and shader flags 1
Automatically generate parallax texture paths (see feature)
Ignore blocks that already have a shader type set (i.e. non-default: Environmental, GlowMap, etc.)
This prevents other desired mesh effects from being removed
Ignore blocks with transparency
These seem to cause parallax issues
Ignore blocks without vertex color
Adding parallax causes the shape to become invisible
feature
Texture blacklisting allows you to exclude specific blocks based on the diffuse texture they use
Lossless
Choose to generate parallax texture paths based on astigmatism or normals
Automatically handles LE and SE meshes (does not handle LE meshes)
User-friendly interface and logging
Install:
Extract the archive into the "Edit Scripts" folder where SSEEdit/xEdit is installed.
usage
Open xEdit
Load at least one plugin so you can use script functionality
Right-click on the plugin and select "Apply Script"
Change the script to "ItAddsParallax"
Press OK
Select the path where the mesh is and where you want to save the Parallax mesh to
Choose how to generate texture paths
Press start
FAQ
Q: Can you do this for LE?
A: At least 99% of Parallax's meshes (at least in large batches) are from LE, so I don't think the LE nif version needs to be ported for this. I don't actually know how to program Delphi, so it's a miracle I was able to put this together, and I haven't played with LE, so I have no incentive to devote more time to this. However, as long as you trust me and link back to this mod, you have my permission to modify and upload this script to run in LE.
Q: I ran through this mesh and I have the parallax texture and parallax shader fixes, but my mesh has no effect.
Answer: You are most likely running LE nifs through an old version of the ousnius optimizer. Older versions removed vertex colors (including white) from the mesh even if "Remove Parallax" was unchecked. For parallax to work properly on nifs, you need to use vertex colors. Get the nifs from LE again, run them through the latest version of the optimizer, make sure "Remove Parallax" is unchecked, and run this script again on these new meshes.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
