About this mod Machine translation

Binary hotfix mod fixes an issue with floating NPCs caused by hitting the exe's arbitrary limit of 128. Inspired to implement fixed functionality in meh321's Actor Limit Fix mod for VR.

This mod is for the VR version of Skyrim.

If you have a lot of actors on screen at one time, it's possible to hit the limits of encoding in exe 128. Once through, you can start to see strange behavior, such as NPCs floating in the air or otherwise acting strangely.

What this mod does is it patches two locations in the exe to change 128 to any number you provide in the config file. I default to 4096, but feel free to lower it if you have performance issues.

Since we don't have a .NET framework for the Skyrim VR version, I wrote it as an SKSE plugin, based on the fixes meh321 made to his mod.

Require

Latest version of SKSEVR

Installing

Install using your favorite Mod Manager or install manually by placing the DLL and INI files in Data/SKSE/Plugins

Saving the game has no impact, so feel free to install/uninstall the game if you want to be safe.

set up

Open Data/SKSE/Plugins/IncreaseActorLimit.ini and edit the NumberOfActors parameter to the desired number ("Mod Default" is 4096).

————————————————————————

This mod is intended for the VR version of Skyrim.

When you have lots of actors on the screen at any one time you run the risk of bumping in to a limit coded in the exe of 128.  Once passed you can start to see strange behavior such as NPC's floating in the air or just otherwise acting weird.

What this mod does is patch two locations in the exe to change 128 into whatever number you give it in the config file.    I default to 4096 but feel free to lower that if you get performance problems.

Since we do not have the.NET framework for the VR version of Skyrim I wrote this as a SKSE plugin based off of the fix meh321 did with his mod.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
