About this mod Machine translation
Fixed several issues with traps and added detection events to warn enemy NPCs when traps are triggered. Includes option to increase damage done by traps.
This mod fixes several issues with traps. Coin wallets sitting on pedestal traps can be exchanged for other items without closing them. Magic traps can be disarmed from a distance and have been fixed to prevent fires. Setting a trap will create a detection event, allowing the trap to be "heard" by nearby NPCs and alerting them of your presence. Traps produce varying degrees of detection events, so a falling boulder or an exploding trap will produce quite a bit of noise and potentially alert everyone in the area, whereas a swinging mace and bear trap will only produce a slight noise and only alert enemies that are reasonably close.
feature
Creates a detection event whenever the trap is triggered, warning nearby enemies.
Indiana Jones style object swapping in pedestal traps is now possible.
Teleportation and thrown objects can now disarm magic caster traps.
Fixed magic caster trap to prevent misfires.
An optional version increases the damage dealt by the trap, making it more dangerous.
The optional file also adds detection events when mining veins.
Other options
Danger Edition: In addition to increased detection events, this edition also includes increased damage to most traps in the game.
Mining generates noise: This is an optional add-on that adds detection events to mining. This is just a simple script replacement, no .esp file required. This is a separate change and can be installed independently of Improved Traps.
compatibility
- Improving traps will conflict with other mods that change trap damage, leveling, or disease rates.
- Mining Makes Noise will conflict with any mod that changes MineOreScript.
- All files are compatible with the fixes in the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition patch (as of the latest update).
- If you are using Follower Trap Safety, please download the compatibility patch under "Miscellaneous Files" and allow it to override the TrapBear script.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
