Immersive hood
One thing I've always hated about Skyrim is that I spent so long making my characters look good only to have their faces covered up for most of the game. To truly appreciate my character, I had two real choices: I could choose not to wear a hood or helmet, or manually equip the hood every time I dived. It's a hassle, I get lazy, it annoys me how can you find barely fluorescent hair or skin tone in a well-lit room.
It just wasn't immersive. As a listener and a nightingale and everything else...I want a mod that makes me feel invisible. Just like you do in Assassin's Creed. I couldn't find what I was looking for, so I chose to do something about it!
What does this mod do?
Very simple, it allows you to automatically equip the hood of your choice while sneaking. So do your fans. If you choose, you can have each follower use a different hood. There are also versions of the effects for each hood, just be careful with first-person viewing as some can be a hindrance.
There is a book in the mod which is like a guide to the game. In addition to basic mod information, it also contains information about known issues and fixes. This is so that you can solve any problem you face on the spot without having to Google anything, and I recommend taking this book with you.
Any hoods that were originally female-only are now unisex, and any non-playable/unobtainable vanilla hoods have Immersive Hoods (IH) exclusive playable versions.
Oh, and I gave you a boat. The ship will form the centerpiece of plans for future missions.
****Must read: How to use***
v1.0: Teleport to Queen Zenobia Spell and Immersive Hoods book added to player when installing mod.
- Go to the Queen Zenobia ship, go to the captain's cabin and find the chest containing the ring.

To change the ring:
- When standing, equip the rubbing ring.

Current list of hood types and rings
Range hood:
Dark Brotherhood looms
DX Reaper
DX Reaper expressionless
DX Celes Nightingale (full face)
Psijiic
Thieves Guild Nightingale
Soul Cairn Reaper
night
Each has a default hood as well as options for the following capabilities:
bat
Summons a swarm of bats. Vampire aesthetics.
blink
Slow/freeze time. Before the arrow shoots, be in another place. They'll never see you coming. Dealing with stealth damage bonuses is much easier. All of this comes at a cost: your movements and ability to aim your bow are sluggish while frozen. ***For player use only***
panic
Increase weapon speed to make you the ultimate assassin.
invisible
Become invisible/remove hood by standing until you activate something. Perfect for when you need to be sneaky.
shadow
You become a shadowy person and become harder to detect. *No annoying poisons!
This means there are 48 different hood styles to choose from in v1.0 alone.
***What not to do and how to fix it! ***
- Do not provide followers with more than one such ring, do not use a wipe ring to equip another ring or equip two rings at the same time.
Fix: Only equip the wipe ring while standing. If it's a follower, make sure they do the same. To avoid mistakes like this, I recommend sorting the bonnet on the boat and placing any rings on the spawned chest before setting off. Once you have the hood ability, you don't need the ring.
- Don’t use the wipe ring when sneaking!
Fix: This one is probably the most annoying. First, try putting the hood down - don't try to unequip it, it won't work! If you can't get the hood down, then re-equip the ring you used for the hood, then sneak up, then get up and get rid of the hood, then use the wipe ring.
Known issues
If used correctly, this mod doesn't actually have any issues that I've found. It has a little lag at times, especial …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
