About this mod Machine translation

Enables D-Pad to use all 8 hotkeys. Press hotkeys 1-4 in any direction. Keep hotkeys 5-8 in any direction. This is an edited control chart file and Xpadder configuration file for use with Xpadder. This particular setup uses the LB button as a quick select menu, adding 8 additional buttons/inputs.

I edited the control chart file and provided an Xpadder config file, which when put together, allows users with an Xbox360 controller (I've only tested this on an Xbox360, it will most likely work with other controllers. If not, I'll probably make one for that controller) to use the D-Pad for all 8 hotkeys, while allowing the user to access the keyboard and mouse while the gamepad is on. Press the D-Pad UP for hotkey 1, press and hold hotkey 5. Press the right key to select hotkey 2, hold down the key to enter hotkey 6. Press and hold key 3, and hold key 7. Press the key to get the key points. This enables super-fast switching of weapons, shields, bows, magic, powers, and shouts in combat. Set your 1h Sword to Hotkey 1, Shield to Hotkey 2 (or whatever you want), Bow to hotkey 3. Shoot some arrows at the enemy, wait for them to rush you, press sword up, right with shield, bam, now you're ready for close combat in less than a second, and there are 5 hotkeys to choose from. Set a spell as a hotkey (whatever number you want), then press the number direction on the D-pad to equip the spell. Hit that direction again to equip a two-handed spell. If you set a spell to hotkey 5, then you must equip that spell while holding it up. It is mounted on the left hand side. If you raise it again, it will be equipped with both hands. So you can quickly equip a dual cast on any hotkey 1-8.

NOTE: The Start and Back buttons now have dual functionality. If you press the Start button, the Tweening Menu will appear. Press B to cancel. If you press the "Back" button, the "Favorites" menu will appear. Press B to cancel. If you hold down the "Start" button, the log will appear. Press and hold to start or press B to cancel. If you hold down the back button, the waiting menu will appear. Press B to cancel.

I've moved the Sprint button from LB to B. I use the TK Dodge mod, so I assign Sprint to B and switch Dodge to B. As a result, when your character is stationary, with the weapon sheathed, and you press B, nothing happens. If the weapon is drawn, you dodge in the direction you were pushing, or forward if not pushing in the direction. If your weapon is sheathed and you push forward and B, you sprint. If the weapon is drawn and you press forward and hold B, you'll sprint. If the weapon is drawn and you move forward and B, you'll dodge and then sprint. If the weapon is drawn and you press to the side or behind, you will dodge in that direction.

I have assigned LB as quick select menu button. The D-Pad has 8 new functions when you hold the LB. If you press any of the instructions, you will get quick skills, quick inventory, quick map, and quick magic screen. If you hold LB, and you hold D-Pad, you will zoom in on your character. If you hold down the D-pad while holding LB, you will shrink your character. If you hold LB and press start you will get the quick save feature. If you hold LB and press back, you'll get the quick load feature.

If the user wishes, I can reassign the Sprint button back to its native LB button, but this will remove the quick select menu.

Additional note: This setup works with the Iequip mod, which actually gave me the inspiration to do this. I want to be able to quickly cycle through weapons and spells, but not just cycle through, but actually select the weapons and spells I want with the push of a button. Once you assign hotkeys, whatever you equip will end up registering in the Iequip widget when you switch them. Just make sure you don't set the Iequip hotkey to the D-Pad. I use the keyboard as my Iequip hotkey.

Applies to Iequps automatic ammunition function. It automatically adds the user-selected arrow type when you equip the bow, …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
