About this mod Machine translation

Easily and immersively destroy corpses.

The Immersive Body Remover provides a lightweight and easy way to remove bodies from your game. A spell called "Cremation of Alka'i" has been added to Whiterun's Hall of the Dead. This spell behaves like "Wall of Fire", but the burning duration is reduced to a few seconds. When the spell hits a corpse, it disintegrates in flames.

Things to note:

-Police will leave behind piles of ashes containing loot

-Dwemer automatons will be marked for deletion by this spell, but will not be destroyed (you cannot cremate metal puppets)

-This spell does not clean activators (ash piles, seeker corpses, and such things are classified as activators)

-This spell will not cleanse the dragon bones

  • Leaving the cell will remove all corpses affected by the spell as well as all sanctified beasts

-Spells do no damage

-This is a restoration spell (turn the holy fire into ruins in the name of Akai)

-It does not increase your skills

Technical information:

Ash piles appear to be associated with the bodies they spawn. This means that the game doesn't actually delete the corpse when the ash pile is generated. They just make their physical barriers invisible. I discovered this issue when trying to disable and remove corpses after generating soot piles (if I do this, the piles will not function). This means that some of the corpse cleanup modules on may not actually clean up the bodies, while the "ash pile" cleanup script only removes the remains, while those invisible bodies are still there (until the cell is reset).

To correct this, my spell behaves as follows:

-I shoot some fire

-The magic effect script will trigger if the thing hit dies (no ActorTypeDragon keyword)

-The script runs on the target of the spell (the corpse)

  • If the corpse is a dwemer automaton, it will silently mark it for deletion (DeleteWhenAble()); the fire effect will disappear and nothing will happen
  • If the corpse is another corpse, the script will run the decomposition animation, lower the boom, and mark the corpse for deletion
  • The sanctified ashes generated by this mod come with an additional script that will mark them for deletion immediately after creation

-Leaving cells triggers the removal of corpses and ashtrays.

Originally, I had the mod spawn a pile of dwemer scrap from automaton corpses, but using fire to make something out of cremated dwemer metal wouldn't be realistic or killer, so I changed it to just mark the automaton for deletion without running the disintegration effect or creating an ash pile. Since deletion happens off-screen, you can assume some spider bots are coming and drag them all out when you don't want to see them. Out of sight, out of mind. I considered having a second spell specifically for the immersive disintegrating automaton, but it doesn't seem to make sense to duplicate that spell to achieve the exact same goal with different animations. There is also an option to completely prevent the spell from working on the automaton like I did with dragons, but I think that would defeat the purpose of the entire mod (removing corpses).

Immersive Body Deleter provides a lightweight and simple way to remove corpses from the game. A spell called "Arkay's Cremation" was added to Whiterun's Hall of the Dead. The spell behaves like Wall of Flames, but the duration of the burn was reduced to a few seconds. When the spell hits a dead body, the corpse will disintegrate in the flames.

Things to note:

-Corpses will leave behind piles of Sanctified Ash containing their loot

-Dwemer automatons will be marked for deletion by the spell, but WILL NOT be broken down (you can't cremate a a metal puppet)

-The spell WILL NOT clean up activators (ash piles, seeker corpses, and things of that sort are classified as activators)

-The spell WILL NOT clean up dragon skeletons

-Leaving a cell will delete any corpses affected by the spell, and any sanctified ashpiles

-The spell does no damage

-It's a restor …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
