Merry Chrismas! Happy Hanukkah,
Have a great celebration!
Part 5 of my "Simple Improvements" home series. Modest improvement from Hjerim, no assets.
Picture from Shanghai Stock Exchange. Mod has been backported. Oldrim is here!
This mod can do 3 things:
- Improve the house
- Eliminate the terrifying bugs in the prerequisite mission "Blood on Ice". I deleted it from the story manager so it won't launch. Suzanne lives. Arivanya life. As the insurance was added, Calixto began to die. All quest references and objects in the house will be removed.
- Remove the task request from the administrator. There's also the Civil War requirement, because that's really annoying.
Now you can be Tana on your own time.
feature:
-All cobwebs, mist and stray hay... gone!
-Lots of storage for new ideas
-Kids room and study (or any room)
-New huge hearth, plus some smaller ones to hold back the Windhelm CHILL.
-New bathroom between the master bedroom and the Housecarl/following room.
- Place 2 slave beds in Housecarl's room
-Reworked crafting areas: Enchanting, Alchemy, Mage Enchanting
-New basement for all blacksmith shops and storage
- Improved kitchen with oven, bar, informal dining table and storage room
- Some random accents for Nord and Dunmer crews
conflict:
-Obviously any mod that can also change Hjerim will do! :-D
- Any mod that changes vanilla "Blood on Ice". Maybe if you load it after this mod, I don't know, but please try it first before asking me.
notes:
-A lot of stuff is miscellaneous. Havok meshes the input as a new Container or Static item with the "No Havok" flag, but you can still knock them down! Don't do it...you'll regret it. I don't know how to solve it. Please do not report unless you have any suggestions. Thanks.
-Yes, I know there is smoke coming from the smelter down there. There is no way to solve this problem without creating a complete Nother mesh, which would mean assets.
-Yes, I know the top of the pole (the fake one below) penetrated the living room floor. I didn't realize this until I finished the entire smithy. To fix it I had to lower everything on that floor and because of the stairs I set it to a specific height. It's a small thing. Live with it.

This mod does 3 things:
- Improves the house
- Eradicates the awful bugged prerequisite quest "Blood on the Ice." I removed it from the Story Manager so it won't start. Susanna lives. Arivanya lives. As added insurance Calixto starts dead. All quest references and objects in the house are removed.
- Removes the quest requirement from purchasing it from the Steward. And the Civil War requirement, because it was really annoying.
Now you can become Thane in your own time.
Features:
- All cobwebs, mist, and scattered hay... gone!
- Tons of new creative storage
- Kids room AND study (or whatever that room is)
- New HUGE hearth, plus a few smaller ones, to keep out that Windhelm CHILL.
- New bathroom between master bedroom and Housecarl/Follower room.
- 2 Follower beds in the Housecarl's room
- Crafting areas redone: Enchanting, Alchemy, Staff Enchanting
- New basement room for all smithing and storage
- Improved kitchen with oven, bar, informal dining table and storage
- Some random accents for both Nord and Dunmer occupants
Conflicts:
- Obviously any mods that also change Hjerim... Make your choice!:-D
- Any mod that changes the vanilla "Blood on the Ice." Maybe if you load it AFTER this mod, I dunno, but try first before asking me.
Notes:
- Many things are misc. Havok meshes input as new Containers or Static items, with "No Havok" flags, but it's still possible to knock them down! …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
