Use Racemenu to make beautiful expressions for my character? A piece of cake. Using Creation Kit to change NPC's face? A piece of cake. Use Racemenu to snatch NPCs? Hell on earth. I've spent months trying to make it work. The most frustrating thing is that I know it's possible, users are talking about it, and people will post replacement modules on . I tried every technique I could find, watched tutorials beyond my ability to adapt, but after countless wasted hours, I gave up, it was just too hard.
I've been wanting to put them on NPCs and I've been using replacers made by other people, hopefully I can change that. Until last week, when I saw another replacement who believed Kalilies' guide "How to edit NPCs without Nifmerge". Since I don't remember reading this, I thought I'd give it a try, but at this point I'm not really hopeful. It was a revelation, just a few pages, a few steps, just pictures, not using many tools. The guide was still hard to follow at times and I almost gave up halfway through, but after a few days, I finally started using it!
So thanks to Kalilies and their great tutorials, I thought I'd make one myself, but I'm going to make it easy to use that anyone can follow it, and for someone like me, it's a guide on how to use Racemenu faces on NPCs, designed by noobs, for noobs.
how to use it
You're going to need a few tools, which I've listed on the first page of the guide and provided links to where you can download them. Once you have them, you're good to go. I still want to warn you that the entire process, while not difficult to follow, is still very tedious and time-consuming, so if you're not willing to spend an hour or two getting to the end, don't try it the first time.
feedback
This is my first contribution to this, hope I've done everything correctly. I'll accept all your criticisms regarding my guide, including suggestions for steps that might have been shortened, instructions that weren't clear, and method improvements. I'd also be happy to make grammatical corrections since the guide is quite long and English is not my native language.

Kalilies, I appreciate his excellent guide on how to edit NPCs without NifMerge. In fact, most of this guide is just his guide, but easier to read.

I kept making heads wishing I could put them on NPCs, I kept using replacer made by other people wishing I could change this or that. Until last week, as I was looking at yet another replacer who credited a guide called "How to edit NPCs without Nifmerge" by Kalilies. Since I didn't remember reading this one, I thought I would give it a shot, but I wasn't really hoping much at this point. It was a revelation, only a few pages, a few steps, with images and not a lot of tools used. Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
