Make the guide no one asked for! A modlist/guide highlighting many of the mainstream and more importantly underrated mods for sse!

Hello Any and all players! I've noticed in the community that die-hard fans of Skyrim Classic still feel like SSE is still at a disadvantage when it comes to mods. I disturb that myth here because by the time SSE was out, many old mods had been ported as well as new SSE-Exclusive mods which replaced many popular outdated mods. As far as I know, not everyone has the time to search for associations and find underrated newly released mods to add to their load order, even when trying to promote new mods! I also know that not everyone is knowledgeable when it comes to nodding. So the purpose here is as a new modlist/guide that will be updated frequently for 2019 and beyond! Consider it a tastemaker's guide, all quality and valuable mods worth downloading.

If you feel there are no worthy mods on this list, please feel free to let me know.

In order for players to understand how this setting is made,

My current specs:

Nvidia Geforce 1050 TI OC 4GB VRAM

Intel Pentium g4560 3.50GHz

DDR4 2800 16gb memory

240GB SSD

1 TB hard drive (this is where I keep SSE w/its mods, but of course an SSD will reduce loading screen time)

*Modlists like mine usually require 55GB*

Skyrim is optimized for vanilla so I always get a smooth 60 FPS. This will depend on the size of the textures we install, and whether we will use enb (this guide also covers enb alternatives).

tool:

MOD ORGANIZER 2 (I prefer this to all the others due to its features and functionality, and how user-friendly it is compared to the amount of detail that Vortex lacks).

SSEdit: This is needed because a lot of the major ESMs contain unnecessary baggage!

LOOT: Loot sorts your plugin order and gives you tips on incompatibilities and dirty plugins, a must! (Usually 99% accurate).

remember:

Removing textures, enbs, weather, and even lighting overhauls should be safe in the game.

But the general consensus is not to remove script heavy mods (or any mod that touches scripts) unless you plan on starting a new game.

Beyond that, test every script/weather/lighting overhaul mod every time you install it. I've never really had a problem installing textures once.

On the other hand, there is no need to use 4k textures unless you can afford VRAM. I've personally noticed that I can use them even with a 1080p monitor, but

It is generally recommended that you use 2k textures for visual and performance advantages.

What if Skyrim SE is updated?

The best fix I've found for blocking SSE updates is working, right click on your game and select Preferences. Go to the Updates tab and select the option; "Update when I publish". This way SSE won't update unless you launch it from steam. Instead, you will launch SKSE64 through Mod Organizer 2.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
