About this mod Machine translation

Allows you to configure different room charges for each inn in Skyrim.

Overview

This mod will allow each hotel to set different prices for rooms. After all, why would a lonely hotel in the middle of nowhere charge the same as a hotel in a big city? For the quaint 32-bit version of Skyrim, there is a module that provides this functionality and more, called Perseids Inns and Taverns. Actually, that was my idea. However, that mod is more ambitious than this mod. I did not implement multi-night rentals or pay for an entourage room. What's more, I didn't edit any of the hotel's interior units. All I have moved is the room rental script, so this mod will be compatible with any other mod that enhances hotel interiors.

Skyrim SE has an extended accommodation module that provides multi-night stays and adds a few other features. As of version 2.6, this mod is compatible with Extended Stay when using the mod's default GlobalVariable setting. These default settings simply assume that the cost and duration of the rental is a multiple of the value of a one-night rental (i.e. no discounts for multiple days). If you use SSEEdit to customize these GlobalVariable settings, these new values will be ignored. Version 2.6 of this mod uses a simple multiplier to determine the cost and length of your stay, ignoring these global settings.

configuration

An MCM is provided for you to customize the inn price according to your needs. These rates are stored in an external file, so when you start a new game, these rates are retained and retained. I use the PapyrusUtil SE utility for this purpose, so you will find the rates stored in the file <SSE>\Data\SKSE\Plugins\StorageUtilData\InnRoomCosts.json.

Support for new hotels

The vanilla inns provided by Bethesda's main file are hardcoded, so even if you run this mod for the first time, when you don't have an InnRoomCosts.json file yet, they will still show up in the MCM. Any inns provided by mods will be dynamically discovered whenever you talk to the innkeeper. You don't need to actually rent a room, just launch the dialog box and this mod will detect that you are in a hotel. As new hotels are discovered, they are automatically added to MCM and initially use the default room rate. If you change its rate using MCM, the rate will remain in the InnRoomCosts.json file.

Note: I do not recommend deleting your InnRoomCosts.json file. Doing this won't break your game, but it will discard any custom room fees you entered into the MCM.

Here is a list of some mods that will provide your game with new inns. I'm sure there are many more that have yet to be found. Post me the links and I'll be happy to add them here.

Check out time

What annoys me is that the original script for Room Rental was for players to sleep in a room for two nights for only one. The reason is that when you rent a room, the script gives the player ownership of the bed for 24 hours from the time you pay. So if you pay at 10pm you can sleep there that night and then the next night, as long as you fall asleep before 10pm you can sleep there the next night. If you try to pay the next night, the innkeeper will tell you that you have already paid and he/she will not wake you up at 10pm to make you pay again. I know, it's a small thing, but what can I say?

This mod solves this problem by setting a noon check-out time. You don't have to own the bed for 24 hours, but only until noon the next day. To do this I had to make some changes to the original RentRoomScript. This and all my script source code are included in the downloaded file.

This feature is of course configurable. In MCM you can turn it on or off, as well as set checkout times.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
