Hey man! I have a question for you. Have you ever wanted to compete in a legitimate Altmer, Bosmer or Dunmer match that actually has a more human look? Me too, now I can!
So, some info/background on this simple preset module. For the longest time, and I do mean a long time, dating back to 2011, I've wanted to play an elf in Skyrim. However, no matter how hard I tried, I could never create an elf that I really liked the look of. I sat there and tried for hours trying to make it look good, then gave up and slapped it with human and familiar ears praising it as good but okay for now... but never mentioned the sprites that were any NPCs in the game always showed up after a while. Just broke my immersion, you know? Even the Void Elf overhaul couldn't help me achieve what I wanted. So I quit and just went back to playing characters like Nord or Brittany or Imperial. That's fine, but I've always, always wanted to play as a high elf knight/paladin/you get the idea. This desire never left me, so I would try, try, fail and fail again and again.
I repeated this cycle for almost ten years but was never satisfied with my creations. However, a week and a half ago I finally made the transition from LE to SE, and I tried again to make a pixie preset that I really liked... but this time I was fully committed to succeeding. Failure this time will not be my choice! So after 4 days of flipping on and off, getting into facial retouching, making a few tweaks to the sliders, and then almost giving up, I finally made it work and discovered the magic slider that makes it possible! Kinda felt stupid for not finding it earlier because it had been around for so long.
I'm so proud of what I accomplished that I decided to share the presets! I also made Bosmer and Dunmer modifications to the presets, making some small changes to them so that they look almost indistinguishable from each other. Why? Because I know not everyone wants to play an Altmer, actually I think most people want to play a Dummer or a Bosmer. Yeah, I let them give people a preset version of the race they wanted to play.
TLDR: I spent 4 days making three elf presets using the vanilla elf race that actually look more human, but still look like elves. There is no mesh to import and no sculpting. So you don’t have to worry about anything weird that might happen. Just install the presets (and their requirements) and load them into the appropriate match ready for use in the game.
important
Because of the way these presets work and the sliders I used to give them the appearance, they will not be compatible with most hair (especially vanilla hair) that was previously fine in the vanilla elf race. The hairline is tucked into the forehead. However! As a trade-off, they now look good with other hairs that don't look that great among elven races. Also, if you load a preset and end up with a jagged and low-poly look for the face, just go to the Head tab in Racemenu and move the slider on Face Parts to High Polygon Head. When you load the preset it should load automatically, but you may never know.

PS The magic slider that does all the work is under the "Other" tab in Racemenu. High Elf, reduce it to -0.3 or -0.4, but don't go past it or it will look a little weird.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
