About this mod Machine translation

Make Ebony Warrior great again.

Let me ask you something.

What does an Ebony Warrior look like?

Does he look like Samuel L. Jackson should be asking the question?

Then why do you want to smack him like that?

NOTE: This is technically a "beta" because when I ran it on my system, no one had tested it on their system yet and reported success or failure. So if you have questions, please let me know in the comments.

Are you the kind of Dovahkiin who loves using Ordinators, Multiple Enchants, and other mods that cause constant power creep?

Is your Dragonborn powerful and do you have to kill the Ebony Warrior with your fists so that the man can die with dignity rather than common fodder with sword thirst?

Do you remember the days when you first fought the Ebony Warrior and he was a real challenge? At least until you figure out Marked for Death? Do you want him to be able to put up a decent fight with your super-modified Dovahkiin without flinching?

Well, then I might have a mod for you.

I brought the Ebony Warrior into the creative tools and made some adjustments to his ass. He's bigger, badder, and more powerful than ever. He's at a higher level and healthier.

But wait, there’s more!

You're using a mod that lets you stack a ridiculous amount of enchantments on your gear, right?

Come on, don't lie to me, you know.

All of Ebony Warrior's gear features new enchantments, powerful enchantments, and there are lots of them. No, your guest room closet is no longer filled with nicer stuff. The Ebony Warrior is meant to be one of the few people in Tamriel who can be considered your companion, and now he has the over-the-top gear to prove it.

If you manage to kill him, some might argue that it's even overwhelming, but two things happen.

  • I personally have never looted the Ebony Warrior, this guy showed up in Glorious Death and found it on a mountainside not far from his home. I never had a reason to leave his Akiko body in the snow. He deserves more dignity than this.
  • For those of you who: "I don't care about his dignity anymore, I've taken his soul away." Well, his equipment is there for the taking. If you're powerful enough to kill him, his gear probably won't break your game. That being said, I really can't remove his loot (unless you happen to use something that strips it dynamically, in which case there's not much I can do about it)

Oh no, we're not done yet. The Ebony Warrior should be your companion, and now he has the skills to prove it. Unlike other NPCs in the game (unless you use ASIS), this new Ebony Warrior actually benefits from enchantments like Fortify One-Handed. Therefore, all buffs on his gear will benefit anyone who might loot them. They benefit him and will work against you.

Enai Siaion - Since his wonderful "Sumnermyst" has a pretty permissive license to use his assets however he wants as long as he is credited, I give him credit here. Borrowed a bit from Summermyst to help ole' Ebony chase the kiter.

Q&A session

Q: So all you have to do is increase his level, his stats, perks and gear? Didn't you write custom scripts and interactions for him or anyone else?

A: Who do you think I am, Einar? No, it's not.

Q: What about new equipment?

A: Well, a little bit? All of his gear now has custom enchantments. However, it retains the default ebony skin. At least I'd like to give him an ebony scimitar, but I know less about modeling and texturing than I do about statesman self-restraint. So if someone wants to do it voluntarily, more power to them. Otherwise, he will use any model for the gear you install.

Q: OMG he just makes my level 100 Dovahkiin roll and I never get attacked! What ghost

Answer: I get the impression that you don't understand the purpose of this mod. This doesn't apply to people who played the original game, or who avoided the power spread like the plague.

Q: Psssh! I reverted to fix the glitch and hit him with the sword for all the damage, making him fall down. Where are the c …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
