About this mod Machine translation
This is an SE conversion of mod HDT Tails wearables. Added a number of equippable tails and ears to the game using HDT-SMP physics.
Description: Requires MOD:
- HDT-SMP (Skinned Mesh Physics)
- XPMSSE skeleton
In the process of moving my modlist to SE, I discovered that there is no SE version of HDT Tails Wearable. Not wanting to play SE without it, I decided to convert the entire mod myself. After 3 months of learning from scratch and 3 weeks of waiting for authorization, I can finally share it!
[describe]
Mod adds a large number of HDT-SMP tails and ears to the game.
They can all be crafted on Forge, but I recommend using AddItemMenu to make them easier to obtain.
Thanks to Treota's tweaks, fox5Tails is now included in the main file.
Some notes:
- 3 tails can't be converted because SE doesn't like mesh for some reason. These tails are MateraBlackT (black tail with white tip), Khajiit tail, and Nekomata tail. They are not included in the mod.
- Some tails have a "jitter" effect, but it's least noticeable in MateraTail. Personally, I only notice the jitter when I try to see it and stand still.
- If the tail moves too fast, it sometimes gets caught on the legs. A potential workaround might be to increase the "numiterations" value in configs.xml, but this will increase the performance cost.
Physics demonstration:
[Require]
- HDT-SMP (Skinned Mesh Physics)
- XPMSSE skeleton
Make sure to install their respective requirements as well.
Recommended modules:
- AddItemMenu SE, allows you to easily get tails without making them.
- SliderEarsTailsHorns on the LL website, allowing you to equip certain tails and ears via the Racemenu. Suitable for presets, or if you don't want them to go into jail unequipped. This mod was made for the LE version, but according to my testing it is compatible.
[Install]
You should use the mod manager, but if you must do it manually:
- Extract the contents of the .zip file.
- Drag the "Data" folder into your Skyrim root directory.
If you are installing one of the hair repair options, follow the same steps above and be sure to replace the main file when prompted.
The root directory can be found by right-clicking Skyrim in the Steam library, clicking Manage, and then clicking Browse Local Files. That should open the root directory.
[compatibility]
It shouldn't conflict with anything. If so, please let me know.
[Change Log]
1.0.1
- Thanks to Treota's configuration, fox5tails now have nice physics and are included in the main file.
- Using what I learned from him, I also updated the physics of all the other tails. They should stop acting like a rope.
- I believe the .esp should now be a 44 form.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
