Growl is a lightweight werewolf (and werewolf) overhaul. It offers a smoother beast combat experience, scaling, reworked perks, synergies between beasts and mortal forms, and a host of quality-of-life improvements to make beasts a viable option for your character; all without "taking over" or unbalancing the game.

Hesing's gift to mankind is called "Beast Blood". This is not only a power, but a curse. You gain the following powers in both mortal and beast forms:

Animal blood: Animal blood provides 100% resistance to disease.

Blood of the Beast: Blood of the Beast causes 50% fire weakness and silver weapons deal 20 extra damage to you.

Call of Blood: At night, there is a 20% chance that your curse will appear, forcing you to take the form of a beast.

(Argon) Rabies: Your Argon blood increases poison damage based on the beast's attack level.

(Brayton) Skinwalker: Your Breton blood reduces the cooldown of Beast Form by 30 seconds.

(Dark Elf) Angry Hate: Your Dark Elf blood increases the duration of Beast Form by 60 seconds.

(High Elf) Golden Mane: Your high elf blood provides 15% additional magic resistance in beast form.

(Imperial) Bonus: Your Imperial Blood reduces the cooldown of Beast Form's Howl by 50%.

(Khajiit) Hunting Instinct: Your Khajiit blood reduces the stamina cost of Beast Form's power attacks by 20%.

(North) Varg: Your Nord blood, fed in beast form, grants 20% additional attack damage for 30 seconds.

(Orcs) Primal Fury: Your Orc blood attacks take damage for 15 seconds while activating Beast Form.

(Redguard) Strong Stomach: When you eat in beast form, your Redguard blood restores 100 points of stamina.

(Wood Elf) Chaser: Your Wood Elf blood provides 10% additional movement speed in beast form.

Blood Call will warn you shortly before you change, giving you time to clear out populated areas. Although night force transformations were a feature in older TES games, making these transformations randomly without any warning only prevented players from entering the city at night. Equipping Hircine's Ring allows you to "Control Shapeshifting" and therefore disable "Blood Summoning".

You also gain the following powers in mortal form:

Beast Form: Lasts 150 seconds in beast form. 90 seconds cooldown.

Changed from 1/day power in normal Skyrim to cooldown-based power in Growl, making it more useful. Unlike many other implementations, this works just like the original Skyrim cooldown, graying out the power until the cooldown ends, and triggering the power via other means (such as the Voice of Fury and the Ruin perk in Ordinator) will not start the cooldown.

Vanilla Skyrim werewolves are underpowered and lack survivability, the inability to heal on demand, the inability to work with the mage character, and even basic features like the inability to loot corpses or revert to mortal form at will, forcing players to leave behind the loot. Growl includes a number of buffs and quality-of-life improvements to make the beast viable throughout the game. You'll get the following effects in beast form:

Unlimited carry weight

Immune to fall damage

immune diseases

Orc attacks cause 10 base damage (+1 per character level) (max level 50)

Orc skins gain 60 points (+6 per character level) base armor (up to level 50)

Orc skins gain 25% (+1% per character level) magic resistance (up to level 50)

HP increased by 50 points

100% of base Magicka transferred to Stamina

Movement speed increased by 15%

Restore 20 maximum stamina per second
