Installation method:
Download the latest ENB binaries from enbdev:
Drag and drop d3d11.dll and d3dcompiler_46e.dll into the Skyrim root folder.
Place Grimm's ENB contents into the Skyrim root folder.
Use your mod administrator to enable NLVAGrimmENB.esp.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Add or modify this line in skyrimprefs.ini shown: bVolumetricLightingEnable = 0
Disclaimer:
The weather addon hasn't been converted to Skyrim SE (it won't be, and I can't find why), but from my playtime and testing it doesn't seem to cause any issues.
If your game looks really bright, go to the installation steps and add it to skyrimprefs.ini
If your game doesn't look like it should, I have a lot of mods installed that can greatly enhance the look of your game.
Compatibility:
All Lightning mods should be compatible, ELFX and ELE have been tested.
Weather mods are not compatible as they drastically change the appearance of the game.
Recommended models:
ELFX:
Either
ELE:
Northern Reality Cloud:
Skygazer Moons SSE (non-luminous version):
If you want to use the illuminated version, you must adjust the moon intensity under the "Environment" tab of the ENB GUI.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
