SKYRIM GIANT MOUNTAIN TRAIL
Come in, come in...sit down, or if you're cold just light a fire...of course, the fire is lit...yeah, that's the name of the inn, so you could say it's a giant fire, I get it...what do you mean, a "real" giant fire lit? Oh you can't mean...yeah I've seen them in the mountains all over the Rift Valley too...do I know who built them? No one knows who they were, or what they were doing - but their legacy remains in the mountains of southeastern Skyrim... No thanks, I don't need to know everything, what am I, a Herma-Mora worshipper...? (fingers crossed)...so, you say, most of the path has been illuminated lately...? Have you ever seen an oversized ghost at one end of this piece? Just how far is it, all the time... so much...! You went there alone, to a place with painted cows, hoping to see and talk to a giant, are you crazy? You're lucky you didn't meet anyone, then... If I lost my copy of Giant Legend, I would thank God, It didn't end a worse disaster...but my safety was hidden in the library at Bard College. Oh, so you said it was where you found the first lighted lighthouse flame? Don't tell me - I can see it in your eyes - that you long to get back out there and explore more. Well, notice what I mean - the higher the mountain, the more dangerous the fall...me? No thanks, another batch of beer to deal with.
artist's impression
This mods adds over a dozen wildfire beacons to the Rift/Eastmarch mountains.
Presumably, in days of yore, they were connected by sight, but the ravages of time have dislocated some of them.
Be gritty and you'll find your way without any modern conveniences:
*Skyrim Borders disabled
- Fov/zoom mods such as A Closer Look
*Ride a horse, fly a dragon, charge an eagle (no, this is not a rickroll link)
*Clear Sky Scream/Spell
Although I can imagine players might find some of the above useful.
The ghost giant found at the end of the path will send you on a chase mission to reach the Reach (but after tracking it it shouldn't be that difficult... especially since the places you visit in the main mission are the same). As a bonus, you can jump to Skuldafn/Sovngarde with them as an alternative to the "Fallen" main quest. Reward or punishment... This may be a last resort if you kill or offend too many important NPCs using Main Quest Dialogue Overhaul mode.
Simplified functionality (applies to version 1.0)
- The lighthouse fire is constantly lit day and night; there are no issues, just the tedium of the open world trail design: can you spot the next one? Painted boulders sometimes mark sightseeing spots.
- You don't need anything special to talk to the ghost giant
- You don't need to complete the Ghost Giant quests to recruit some of them as Civil War allies. This is done via CWAllies missions, so they should support you outside of the main holding city siege battles, similar to Hadvar or Ralof. Two ghost giants are recruited.
- Even if you learned Alduin from Arngeir or someone else, you will be asked to go to the other end of the trail and talk to the non-ghost giant. Note: The Giant will not appear in the game until you perform a fetch quest on the Ghost Giant
- The book that needs to be read (in order to get the variant of the slow shout needed to talk to the giant) is placed next to the giant you want to talk to. There is also no additional dialogue for regular camp giants. (For non-Dragonborn games you have to unencrypt the global value whatsitsname, VxSlowTimeIsOn iirc)
- A giant will be able to throw you from a mountain to Skuldafn, and you have a chance of falling into a pool of water and surviving. This is a backup backup of the backup backup added by this mod. (Note: Need to increase the chance of being able to do this, the default is very small iirc).
- Regardless of how your main quest progresses, there is no Odahviing boss fight in Skuldafn Temp …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
