What does this mod do?

You'll receive a set of eight rings, which have the unique ability to save weapon and gear loadouts so you can recall them later. This is especially useful if you're using straps, equipping lanterns, custom armor, etc. Now you can save up to eight outfits and favorites, even hotkeys!

I know SkyUI is capable of doing the same thing, including shouts and powers, but I find it annoying to scroll through the favorites menu and select each item into a slot. This mode makes saving gear sets easier and faster. That's why I use it.

Update 1.3b SE:

+Convert ESP to form ID 44

Update 1.2b: Now heat up your entire party! Just give a companion a ring and his/her equipment will be saved as well, giving you 16 slots per ring.

Install and update

Requires SKSE64 2.0.4+

Automatically install using NMM or Mod Manager

Manual installation:

Install first: Extract the files into the ...\Skyrim Special Edition\Data folder and activate PBGearRings.esp in Skyrim Launcher.

Update from previous version: You must make a clean save before installing: uncheck PBGearRings.esp, make a new save, and install.

This mod requires the latest SKSE64 version.

To uninstall, simply delete all provided files.

how to use it

Load up your favorite gear, then drop one of the provided chimes (press 'R' by default) and wait for the configuration dialog to show up. When the dialog box closes, the ring will be added back to your inventory, and you can now like it or anything else. Equip it to switch your gear!

The script will read every possible settable slot, so any standard and non-standard devices should be compatible. The ring itself doesn't use any sockets or equip, so it won't conflict with your favorite magic rings.

Companion Support: Open your minion's inventory and remove anything you don't want him/her to equip, then place a ring in it (you don't need to close the inventory). The ring will be returned to you and the "Gear Gem" will be added to your companion, which will also be activated each time the ring is activated. Each ring can produce up to 16 gems. To clear a gem, remove it from the NPC and then delete it, this will delete the gem and clear its data.

Issues and limitations

Regarding the issue involving self-magic items in the Oldrim version: I first thought it was working fine - but it seems I screwed it up. When equipped via this mod's Gearset, narcissistic items will generally not gain their enchantments. When necessary, the required items must be manually re-equipped. The Vanilla Pre-enchanted project works well. If anyone knows how to get this working, I'd appreciate any advice. Maybe there are some changes since Oldrim that might make it work maybe...

From ORIGINAL mod:

+ Player-obsessed items will not have their magic effects applied when equipped by the ring script, this is due to a bug in the main Skyrim script that cannot be resolved at this time. When this bug is resolved in the official patch or SKSE, or if a workaround is found, I can fix it here

Currently + dual weapons are not supported. This is because I don't seem to find any ability to equip a left handed weapon, if you know of one please let me know via PM.

+ Due to a strange bug, ringtones given to NPCs will not be returned to the player if you have not previously deposited your character's gear into them. However, you can retrieve it from the NPC inventory.

feedback

Please report how this transition affects you. I've done a lot of playtesting (having been using this mod for about three months now and I thought I'd upload it here since the author allowed it giving him credits)

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
