Now you can open the door with powerful thu'um. :)

Here's a video of where the idea came from:

frequently asked questions

Q: What does this mod do?

A: First, watch the video. Secondly, Unrelenting Force can force the door to open or even lock it.

Q: Will this open doors that require keys?

Answer: No.

Q: Isn’t this feature very unbalanced?

Answer: No, it doesn't matter because it's easy to pick the lock. The concept makes sense, old games had you using weapons to open locks or using magic to unlock things.

Q: Why doesn't it work with boxes?

A: I think so. . .

Q: Are there any incompatibilities?

A: No, your shout will work on any door.

Q: How do I install it?

A: Use a mod manager, or unzip the contents into the "Data" folder.

Q: How to uninstall?

A: Go to the console and enter two commands:

------------- stopquest FRDUpdateAliases

-------------Stop FRDDoorAliases

and uninstalled by NMM

Or B: If you decide to install manually, delete the .esp and script.

Q: Help, no door opens!

A: Relax and just wait a few seconds for the script to update. If the door has a slit, then maybe you should consider your goals.

Q: Why won't the Expert and Master doors open?

A: If you keep chasing them, they eventually will. Get a few copies of Talos Blessing and you can scream.

Q: Why do doors sometimes open to me when I yell? This is not reality and is not realistic!

Answer: The door only opens one way. It's cool to have the power of a shout blow a door off its hinges, splinter wood into a million pieces, and spur on stupid vampires to get in your way, but it requires a lot of effort: working around the game engine rather than using it. This mod is very useful.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does this mod do?

A: First, watch the video. Second, Unrelenting Force can force doors open, even locked ones.

Q: Will this open doors that need a key?

A: No.

Q: Isn't this feature terribly imbalanced?

A: No, since lockpicking is easy it really doesn't matter. The concept makes sense, and older games let you bash locks open with weapons or use magic to unlock stuff.

Q: Why won't it work on chests?

A: I think it does...

Q: Are there any incompatibilities?

A: No, your shout will work on any door.

Q: How do I install?

A: Use a mod manager, or extract the contents into your "Data" folder.

Q: How do I uninstall?

A:Go into the console and type in both commands:

------------- stopquest FRDUpdateAliases

------------- stopquest FRDDoorAliases

And uninstall by NMM

Or B:If you decide to install manually delete the.esp and scripts.

Q: Help, none of the doors are opening!

A: Relax, just wait a few seconds for the scripts to update. If the door has open bars, then maybe you should think about where you're aiming.

Q: Why won't the Expert and Master doors open?

A: They will eventually, if you keep hounding at them. Get a couple servings of Talos Blessing and you can shout more.

Q: Why do the doors sometimes open TOWARDS me when I shout? This isn't immerisve nor realistic!

A: Doors only open one way. It would be cool to have the force of the shout blow the door off its hinges, the wood splintering into a million pieces that'll impale the foolish vampire standing in your way, but it requires a ton of effort: working around the game engine instead of working with it. This mod works with it just fine.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
