Forgetting the Cold (SSE)
This mod reimagines the sword Chillrend to better reflect how it looks in Oblivion, rather than just a blue version of the glass sword. There's something about Sword of Annihilation that I've always loved, and I'm so disappointed in Skyrim's changes.

About this mod Machine translation
This mod reimagines the sword Chillrend to better reflect how it looks in Oblivion, rather than just a blue version of the glass sword. There's something about Sword of Annihilation that I've always loved, and I'm so disappointed in Skyrim's changes.
My original plan was to simply retexture the Nightingale Blade and edit the mesh slightly to make it look closer to the Oblivion version. It works very well, but was always a bit obvious, just with the Nightingale Blade being restructured. A few weeks ago I came across the Vilidran (Blades) model and was inspired to revisit this and create a new, more stylized version. I think the result looks really good!
Now it's just a mesh and texture replacer that seamlessly replaces all versions in the game. This also means it doesn't require .ESP, so it won't increase your mod limits! I'm sure there's interest in a standalone version, but I'll have to consider if it's worth it.
There are three color options, just choose the file you like:
- Platinum/silver version in Oblivion style.
- Shiny gold version.
- Skyrim-style Moonlight Tablet.
As always, if you find any bugs or issues, please let me know.

My original plan was to simply retexture the Nightingale Blade and edit the mesh slightly to make it look a little closer to the Oblivion version. It worked surprisingly well, but it was always a bit obvious that is was just the Nightingale Blade with a retexture. Then a few weeks ago I came across the new "Glass Blades" mod by Vilidran ( and was inspired to revisit this and create a new version with a little more style. I think the result looks pretty damn good!
Right now it is simply a mesh and texture replacer that seamlessly replaces all versions in the game. That also means it does not require an.ESP, so it won't add to your mod limit! I'm sure there is interest in a standalone version, but I'll have to look into whether it's worth doing that.
There are three color options, just pick the file you prefer:
-An Oblivion-style white-gold/silver version.
-A shiny gold version.
-A Skyrim-style moonstone version.
As always, let me know if you find any bugs or issues.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
