About this mod Machine translation

This mod provides different currencies for each city. It simultaneously replaces the gold coin textures in the game with 5 different variants. So in Whiterun you'll find Whiterun coins, in Riften you'll find Riften coins, and so on. Available in Imperial or Stromcloak version (depending on backstory)

idea:

It always bothered me that there was only one currency in the entire game. Sure, Skyrim is a province, but it has a variety of holdings and cities, and at least some having different currencies makes sense.

So I started by creating five different textures for the gold coins and building the mod Five Cities Currency. First, you simply choose from five available textures and simply swap out the vanilla texture.

With the help of u/SuperOdie, most famously Shizof created the script for this mod, which works as expected and it's finally finished and ready to use.

What it can do:

Different textures will now be triggered whenever a player enters a cell that uses another currency for geographical, historical or political reasons.

So for example if you travel to Falkreath you will see the Solitude version of the coin because Falkreath's Jarl supports the Empire (they are in Skyrim's capital city of Solitude)

If you find yourself in Pale, you'll see Solitude/Imperial coins, as its inhabitants sympathize with the Empire.

Each city now has its own currency, with Holds using Solitude coins (Imperials) or Windhelm coins (Stormcloaks). In the open world you will see Whiterun coins because I made all five big cities in that version and call it Skyrim Edition.

coin:

Five Cities Currency – Skyrim

Five major cities have been considered. Since Whiterun is the "heart" of Skyrim and the story revolves around it, I put its emblem in the front, with the other four cities of Windhelm, Solitude, Riften and Markarth in the back.

Five Cities Currency - Solitude

This version represents the capital of Skyrim, the "seat of the High King." It is also the cultural center of Skyrim and its Bard College. It has the coat of arms on the front and shows the Blue Palace and the Academy on the back

Five Cities Currency - Stormcloak

Windhelm is the home of Ulrfic Stormcloak, and according to the story behind the rebellion, one of his quotes and "bears" is placed on the front "I fight because I must" and an anonymous ancient Norse quote on the back, which recalls freedom and ancestors: "Cast away the bonds of imperial oppression. Bow not the yoke of your false majesty. Be true to your blood and return to your fatherland"

Currency of the Five Cities - Markarth

The "White City" or "Stone City" was built at the site of Nchuand-Zel and has been repositioned as a modern city-state. On the front you see the Markarths badge and on the back you see the Dwemer Puzzle Cube

Five Cities Currency - Riften

It is the southernmost and easternmost of all cities in Skyrim, and is home to the Temple of Mara shown on the reverse of the coin

Requiremens:

Even though this mod is very simple, it still requires SKSE to work.

Install:

  • Download your favorite mod manager, install and overwrite promt when
  • Or manually download, extract and place this mod's content folder into the Skyrim/Data directory

uninstall:

  • Disable/uninstall the mod from the manager or delete files from the Skyrim directory. But keep in mind that scripted mods may cause problems when removed. Use a save cleaner just in case.

integral:

Thanks SuperOdie for pointing me in the right direction, thanks Tizof! Without you this wouldn't be possible!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
