About this mod Machine translation

Scratched custom sword, exclusive to Skyrim Special Edition.

Forged from the embers of the first fire, the Skeleton Sword beckons once more to a master. This sword once held fire, but now its gems and blade are dull. Find the Fire Gem and ignite the Amber Sword to restore it to its original glory. The sword's name is inspired by the Dark Souls/Bloodline series. Although my sword name is not directly related or used in these games, I wanted it to sound similar. It's by no means meant to be "definitely friendly," but I'll let you decide if it fits in with the world. This is my first mod for Skyrim Special Edition and Skyrim. Ever since I had a modded Skyrim years ago, I've always wanted to make weapons for the game but never got around to it. I decided to wait until the special edition was worth playing, so here I am. Any future mods I plan to make will be exclusive to SSE since this is the game I plan to play.

This sword can be found near one of the Dragon Lairs. If you'd like to see directly where it's located, look below to see where it can be picked up. The only swords that can be found in the world are the one-handed versions. One- and two-hand wear versions can also be found at suppliers, but don't expect it to be common. All other versions require careful design. If needed, you can also quickly generate a sword by using a console command and typing: "help Ember 4" (without quotes).

The Sword of Ember has three states: Worn, New and Ignited. Each stage in the crafting process makes it more powerful and deadly. You will need the previous version to make the next stage (Worn>New>Ignited). Only level 1 smiting can access them. Each version can be tweaked so that you can increase its damage, and then if you prefer using one over the other, a better sword must be made.

In a worn state, the blade and stone will become dull and will not shine. In new condition, the blade will be clean and the gem will glow even in the dark. While restoring the sword to new won't require many rare resources, the task of creating its Ignited state is another story. When lit, the Ember Sword burns brightly in flames and deals final fire damage. To achieve this and make the Ignited version, you need to find a unique item called a Fire Gem. Fire Gems have the potential to become loot drops for Flame Atronachs. While they won't always drop a Fire Gem, they have a 50% chance of having one. With any luck, you can get one of these rare gems and craft the ultimate Sword of Ember.

How do I install the mod?

Use your preferred mod manager or manually extract all files into the data folder.

How do I know the mod is installed correctly?

When you start a new game with a character or load a sword for the first time, you'll see a notification in the upper left that the sword is installed.

The texture/mod seems to be missing when I install it, how do I fix this?

Make sure you place the files in your data folder and follow this guide here

Do I need to create a base patch?

No, the mod does not change any vanilla level lists. The script is used to inject the sword into the vendor.

I don't see the sword appearing in any of the vendors?

You may need to wait a few days in the game for the cells to reset. The likelihood of the weapon showing up is slim, so even then, not all vendors will sell it regularly.

Can I translate the video review of your mod?

Feel free to make any comments or translations if you wish.

My version of the lit sword has different fire effects than yours, how did I get this?

You need a mod that makes the enchantments look better: I don't use any assets from other modders, my sword only has a simple enchantment that's already in Skyrim, but this mod will affect that enchantment and make it look better: https://www.skyrimspecialedition/mods/4963/

Do you have any requirements for future weapons?

I don't take requests, but I have fun and I mostly just make what I want when I have time.

Will you port this weapon to Legendary Skyrim?

I have no …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
