Oh well, everyone. Have you ever felt like there was a steel shield-shaped hole in your The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special E experience? Are you a plate lover but can't stand the lack of a plate shield in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition's script?
Finally, with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition (FASPSFTESVS), you can cure steel shield defects using actual steel shields in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition video game.
Bethesda Game Studios originally intended to have a steel shield in Skyrim, but they scrapped it, while its crafting and tempering recipes remain in the game's files. I think they would place its quality between dwarves and orcs. After getting tired of waiting for modifiers to make Steel Shield, I took matters into my own hands and made a model and constructed the textures to get the Steel Style aesthetic to the best of my amateur abilities (although you are free to make "better" textures if you want).
FASPSFTESVSSE adds a shield shield to the game, uses the existing vanilla crafting and tempering recipes (you can blame Bethesda if you're unhappy with the crafting), changes most shield tier lists to include this shield, and changes three plate-armored NPCs wearing shields (Kharjo, Salma, and Gormlaith Golden-Hilt) to have this shield.
Since FASPSFTESVSSE changes most masked level lists, I recommend merging the level lists by making a patch in Wrye Bash. If you are using the latest CraftingOverhaul version of kryptopyr, please load SteelPlateShieldSE.esp after completing CraftingOverhaul_Remastered.esp.
I recommend you use some kind of mod manager to install it, or copy the contents of the zip file into your Data/ folder (if you know what you're doing).
Programs used: Blender, Skyrim Creation Kit, XEdit, SSE Nif Optimiser (for Special Edition) NifSkope, NifUtilsStuite, Adobe Photoshop (with Nvidia's Normal Map Filter plugin)
Thanks to the makers of the above mentioned software and BGS whose oversight led me to make this mod.

Oi, you folks. Have you ever felt that there was a Steel Plate Shield-shaped hole in your The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special E experience? Are you a Steel Plate enthusiast but cannot bare to cope with the absence of a Steel Plate Shield in your The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition playthrough?
With Finally, A Steel Plate Shield For The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition (FASPSFTESVS), you can cure your Steel Plate Shield-deficiency with an actual Steel Plate Shield in your The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition video game.
Bethesda Game Studios intended to have a Steel Plate Shield in Skyrim, but they scrapped it, leaving its crafting and tempering recipes remaining in the game files. I presume they would have placed its quality between Dwarven and Orcish. After getting tired waiting for a modder to make a Steel Plate Shield, I took matters into my own hands and have modelled and textured one myself, matching the aesthetics of the Steel Plate style to the best of my amateur ability (though you are free to make a “better” texture if you wish).
FASPSFTESVSSE adds a Shield Plate Shield to the game, uses the existing vanilla crafting and tempering recipes (so blame Bethesda if you're unhappy with the crafting recipe), alters most of the shield levelled lists to include this shield and changes the inventories of three Steel Plate Armour-clad NPCs who wear shields (Kharjo, Salma and Gormlaith Golden-Hilt) to have this shield instead.
Because FASPSFTESVSSE changes most of the shield levelled lists, I recommend merge the levelled lists by making a bashed patch in Wrye Bash. If you are using kryptopyr’s latest Complete Crafting Overhaul Remastered, please load the SteelPlateShieldSE.esp after Complete CraftingOverhaul_Remastered.esp.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
