Saints and Tempters are required as this mod uses them to modify weapons. If you don't like Saints and Seducers, then I suggest you install Saints and Seducers and go away. This will disable the mission but still allow you to obtain new weapons via console commands.
USSEP is not required but highly recommended as it fixes many weapon-related bugs. In addition, USSEP enhances the dual-wielding attack speed of the dagger, which is very suitable for this mode.
All standard two-handed weapons, axes and maces are now faster both in total speed and relative speed. Daggers and one-handed swords have been included below for comparison:
vanilla new
Dagger 1.3 1.3
Swords 1 1
Tomahawk 0.9 0.975
Metz 0.8 0.95
Greatsword 0.7 0.85
Tomahawk 0.7 0.825
Warhammer 0.6 0.8
This long-handled hammer is still as fast as a mace, now at 0.95.
This Woodcutter's Friend is now as fast as the standard Tomahawk, only 0.825.
Vanilla's ebony blade is as fast as a one-handed sword. USSEP sets it and all other greatswords at 0.75. Since it looks like a light weapon and can't fire back, I think setting the Greatsword and Great Hammer speed at 0.9 is a fair compromise. I also adjusted the stagger from 0.75 to 1.05, which is somewhere between the great sword and the great hammer. This has nothing to do with weapon speed, but I can't let it break like that. The same goes for the next entry on this list.
This executioner's ax only has 0.85 stagger (USSEP misses this as well), so I adjusted to 1.15 tomahawk standard.
The vanilla Volendron is just as fast as the standard greatsword and battle axe, at only 0.7 seconds. USSEP left the speed at 0.7 and updated the greatsword to 0.75. I don't know why it's faster than the standard Warhammer - there's no explanation based on knowledge or logic that I'm aware of - but for consistency's sake, it's now just as fast as the Standard Waraxe, only 0.825.
The Nerve Sheath received the same treatment as the Volentin and is now as fast as the standard Tomahawk at 0.825.
The Ax of Regret is said to be "an ax of immense power"; however, it deals the same damage as the Glass Tomahawk (compared to Vortherad, which is on par with Daedric's Tomahawk), has only 0.5 speed (instead of 0.7), and has a ward (20 stamina damage) that isn't particularly useful. Now, perhaps Karawickus Vile, being the shady businessman he is, has tricked the PC into accepting a inferior piece of art. However, this artifact is supposed to be used by a guy in a robe to kill werewolves, so it shouldn't be such a bad weapon. I also think there should be some incentive to kill Barbas in order to save it. After all, you can't trick someone into accepting a crappy weapon if you also give them a chance to experiment. So I think the Ax of Regret should be at least as fast as the standard Battle Axe.
The beta Volpar Sword received the same tweaks as the Ebony Blade, if you want to play with the artifact left behind by the developers.
Ash spawn weapons and most other unusable weapons have their speeds adjusted accordingly. Using other mods to make it playable will not change this (unless those mods specifically adjust the speed).
The lumberjack's axe, pickaxe, and giant club have remained unchanged.
Weapons from mods and weapons from paid CC content will maintain their originally set speed.
There are a lot of faster two-handed movements in the video below (this is on LE, but the weapon speed adjustments are the same).
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
