describe

TL;DR: Lite, a stripped-down standalone version of Extra Guards SE.

More guards! Fewer dead named NPCs (probably)! Extra help against enemy patrol mods! Great!

Feature list:

Added 208 guards to various settlements.

Expect a few more per city, and smaller settlements likely to have a few.

All male, matched with a female defender with very little vanilla.

Will stand at the outpost for 2 minutes, patrol a bit, then stop again.

No one takes out a flashlight to avoid getting it caught in a ground bug.

Has raw stats so they're not OP.

Will attack most enemies on sight (Forsworn, bandits, vampires, etc.).

There are approximately 120 custom faces that can be used to generate new guards.

ESPFE (ESP is marked as ESL) and therefore does not count against your plugin limit.

Optional replacement plugin for removing new guards in towns.

Note: Temporarily disable this mod when playing Civil War missions, or use the "No City or Town" optional file.

During the Civil War, the City Guard aided the defenders. If you hit one or use a Vampire Lord/Werewolf, you will receive the bounty. is a known issue in the original mod.

compatibility

Compatible with mods that change vanilla guard equipment. Armor is distributed with a shared "Equipment" record, but weapons are added by each NPC. New defender weapons will require display patches.

Compatible with mods that change vanilla guard status. You may also need a consistency patch to change the statistics of the new protection.

Semi-compatible with City Overhaul and Open Cities. You need to use the "No City or Town" optional file, otherwise the guards will get stuck.

Semi-compatible with palace and castle enhancements. For the same reasons as above, you need to use the "No City or Town" optional file.

Not compatible with mods that modify the same faction. These edits are necessary to make hostilities immediately visible to defenders.

Not compatible with original Extra Guards SE. Neither are my optional files.

Will stand at a post for 2 minutes, patrol a bit, then stay posted again.

None have torches to avoid the torch lights clipping with the ground bug.

Have vanilla stats so they aren't OP.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
