About this mod Machine translation

Feathers' list of mods, tweaks, patches, and other content for a role-playing experience as a relic hunter.

A modlist I created for my own game and I'm releasing it for anyone who is interested. LotD can be thought of as a more immersive role-playing friendly experience, so there's a heavy focus on choice, dialogue and lifestyle, as well as treasure hunting.

What type of RP and characters does it work with:

-The same applies to LotD-centric screenings, but also to casual or delayed entry to the museum (in theory you could even ignore LotD, but you'd miss out on a lot);

  • Specific buildings are not considered; although you will find some mods for mages and scholars (as I think having a "badass bookworm" type character in a museum is more likely to interest people), your fighting style etc. is entirely up to you;

-It is implied that you were born a dragon; non-dragon playthroughs are cool, but the missions are completely different.

-You'll find some "good guy" mods for those who want to go on quests and collect items without going crazy; I'll point them out so you can skip them if you want to play as a villain.

The page has the following content:

  • A somewhat extensive modlist that overhauls many aspects of Skyrim;

-Instructions on specific adjustments you may need;

-Never mod friendly: While some mods (LotD to start with) might push the boundaries, I avoided anything overly weird;

  • Flexibility: Even if you don't like every mod on the list and don't want to add anything else, I hope you can find some useful ideas by browsing this page; of course, keep an eye out for patches that should be added or removed in each case;
  • Optional NPC mega-patch (ideally, there will be more): Since multiple mods edit NPCs for different purposes, I made an all-in-one patch to resolve conflicts. Of course, this only works if you use all involved mods (they will be marked in the list). If you use some (but not all) of them, you are welcome to make your own patch (I found this guide very useful), or tell me what you need and I will make a custom patch to add to the downloadable file (I won't make every possible combination from the beginning, but I am willing to upload different combinations upon request.

Content not found on this page:

-The ultimate guide to everything. There are better tutorials out there on how to install the game, fix CK, make LODs, etc. This only works with the mods I choose and how to make them work together.

  • On how to make Skyrim more like the core mods of Dark Souls - I don't use them, I added some combat mods just to allow for customization and that's it; feel free to add more mods though.
  • All possible objects supported by LotD; you can add all your favorite objects from the patch page, but I only listed those that I would choose regardless of museum

On the ported module:

Some mods on this list come directly from Oldrim. I'll port them myself once the permissions are turned on, you'll find them in the Files tab. In some cases this is not possible, so if you want to use them you will have to port them yourself for personal use. This is my guide for porting; I know a lot of people swear by Cathedral Asset Optimizer instead, so see what works for you.

A note on performance:

I play games on a laptop and it doesn't perform as well in vanilla games, so I can't test it much on that front. What I can tell is that I have this modlist installed (I chose performance friendly options where possible) and can play the game. So if your computer isn't really flooded with solanine, it should work. If you want higher performance, the easiest way is to skip ENB (sigh), or at least tick "Ambient Occlusion". If you have a good machine then you can look into flashier graphics enhancements, those will be good for you!

Now on to the actual modlist...

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
