G'day teammates!
Thank you everyone for reading this article!
This is an experimental mode that allows you to add or remove custom cheat perks via MCM toggles. Really, there's not much to say.
Since Skyrim does have a charming system that doesn't require legendary modifications, I decided to make a perk-only version.
This mod only works on PC as this mod requires SKSE (latest SE version) and PapyrusUtil SE.
Please keep in mind that this is purely experimental.
At this time, porting to Xbox and PlayStation is not possible. My apologies to console gamers. Hopefully mod authors can provide you with similar functionality via BethNet.
Installation instructions:
important! before installing this mod.
Make a clean save before installing this mod. This is a must. (I recently discovered that this mod doesn't update with every version change... there is still a way to automatically update this without the mod user needing a clean save. Any suggestions would be great.)
You can install this mod manually or through the mod manager as usual. However, if you find that the slider is not having issues, check the Data folder in your Skyrim installation and make sure the PerkMagnifierProfiles folder is there. If not, you can do this manually.
For Mod Organizer users, it should be similar, except you can put the PerkMagnifierProfiles folder inside the Overwrite folder and see if it works.
Load order instructions:
As some users who have used my mod have reported, you need to put the ECP mod last in the load list as it seems to work best for them. , especially if other mods use their own version of the PapyrusUtil.dll file.
Update instructions
Required: Please make sure you have installed the required files (SKSE (latest SE version)/PapyrusUtil SE/SkyUI).
- Install the mod as usual. (Doesn't matter. Manually or via Vortex/NMm/MO or MO2/whatever mod manager you use).
- New characters/clear save or save before installing mod: Wait for menu to register
- Save (quick save or just save) before launching the ECP mod. It will create a character-specific json file and allow the switching system to fully work.
- Start using the mcm menu.
Additional notes:
Reload - wait a few seconds before doing anything. It could be 1-2 seconds, or more depending on how many scripts you have running on your system. The reason is because this mod requires settings to be reapplied, such as perk effects. This mod uses scripts to automatically reapply your settings.
When modifying the slider. You can go to the PerkMagnifier.json file and modify the min and max settings to adjust the distance you want to add. See below for more details.
Note that the switch option is still checked in after installing the mod - if you notice that you still have the switch checked in when you just switched it, that's because you just installed the mod and you didn't follow the instructions to save first before using the mod. Fast saving and fast loading. That's solved.
For experienced modders/other mod authors -
I've basically created a new system where you can create your own perks and add perks to this mod.
What you can do is usually make a perk and then when you have the formID of the perk, convert the value of that formID to decimal and then add it to the json file. You will see your perks in the Experiment Cheat Cheat Menu. Just make sure your .esp file is active before loading Skyrim to test your extras.
Make sure your formID only has 00 insteead xx or 0x. The system doesn't care about load order. It just takes 00xx (xx is any decimal of your formID, usually HEXID). For example, if I loaded Skyrim .esm and only had this mod, and if I wanted to load the Endless Pocket Perk (listed as Magically Adjustable Pocket in the .json file/mcm menu), the form ID for this perk would be 0100FB0D, and 01 would b …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
