Animation types for dynamic animation replacers

Special Edition|Legendary Edition

Add various content to currently existing animations based on NPC personality type, conditional or random to make Skyrim more diverse.

Some animations are handcrafted from scratch, others are minor tweaks to the original animations.

FAQ/Compatibility:

Spoilers: Show

Recommended:

360 Movement Behavior, CGO

(for improved animation blending and/or using optional player walking/running)

AI overhaul

(Makes NPCs use unused vanilla animations in their timeline)

While I don't have a specific walking animation that I recommend, adding replacers makes the replacers in this mod stand out even more.

Require:

Dynamic Animation Replacer 1.10+

(This is a requirement.)

Please acknowledge these mods, it wouldn't be possible without them.

Install:

Please use the mod manager.

You can safely uninstall at any time, there are no scripts or savegame changes in the mod.

All modules are optional and can be installed with FOMOD for some customization.

You can do this if you just want the torch bit, or if you just want the player to be idle.

Everything is in third person.

Module:

Torch-NPC, player

There are several ways to secure a torch. They may not all be optimal or safe, but - everyone can't be expected to know.

Vanilla -33% chance

Higher -33% chance

Tilt -33% chance

Higher tilted overhead - 33% chance when indoors

Choosing a modular installation also allows you to completely replace it with one of my own DAR-less torch animations if you wish.

(Arithmetic appears to be off, but each is a separate 33/100 check, with priority determined by the DAR)

reallocated idle time - player

Repurpose vanilla idle space in game files to make them accessible to players.

Variant 1-20% chance

Variant 2-20% chance

Personality-NPC, optional player

Small tweaks or new animations based on NPC sound types, races or factions. You can switch individually in the installer.

Elderly, unisex - bending over doing nothing, walking forward, running, dialogue animation, turning

(Campaign/Elder Gray Mann, Thordir) (Sitting animation is optional, WIP)

Children, Unisex - Neutral pose and arm position - Walk forward, run

Women - wrists raised, elbows bent, arched back - walking forward, running, sitting

(YoungEager female voice types, such as Camilla, Ysolda, are very subtle.)

Haafingar Official - Neutral: Chance of new idle 25%

(Imperial Guard, Lone Guard, Penitus Oculatus. Must be in Haafingar area.)

Egoistic, neutral - straight posture, neck raised - walking forward

(Thalmor, Taarie and Endarie, Nirya, Maven Black-Briar-very subtle.)

Note: NPCs have access to many more animations than players, and I haven't adjusted all possible animations yet.

While I tried to cover as much as possible (60+), you'll still see the elders using their normal animations when changing weight while standing/sitting. There are tons of unused/unfinished/duplicated animations in .bsa animations and I'd rather not waste time editing them.

Assisted downloading will allow you to select some of these animations for your player.

From a locked camera perspective, they look a bit exaggerated - I would only recommend the feminine ones.

miscellaneous

I've seen some alternate animations for things that players didn't like/complain about, as well as some animations that could simply use a change.

Wounded - 2 of the 3 "Wounded Sitting" animations have a 50% chance of having a variant.

The lying side does not change because it has "in" and "exit" transitions.

(For example Veezara/Arnbjorn was injured in the DB quest line.)

Magic Elevation - Alternating "float up" and "float down" animations to make your panic more comfortable. Requires more than 150 magicka maximum points.

Lying Down - 50% chance of alternate animation with hands on belly instead of behind head. There is currently no transition animation, so mayb …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
