Equipable Book - Expansion
Original author: Robbie922004, created with permission from the author
This mod requires the original Equippable Tomes - Belt-worn Books. This mod does not contain the necessary resources required by BSA.
Updates and Notices:
August 18, 2018:
Rename the .esp file to EquippableTomes.esp so that compatibility with the Campfire Add-On mod works for this extension.
Fixed Priest's Papers - Biped object value on back right, so Body slot (32) is no longer used.
Corrected background object values for Priest Papers - Rear Right so long hair slot (41) is no longer needed.
Changed the magic skill values for the EnchFortifyMagickaConstantSelf and EnchFortifyMagickaRateConstantSelf magic effects so that the player's Restoration skill does not affect spellbooks (i.e. Witchcraft's Discourse, Warlock's Discourse, etc.). This should also keep repairs from other repair abilities being able to affect these enchantments (note that these are magic effects from the vanilla game; I use buff restoration for some mods and affect all magic effects that have restoration as the designated magic skill).
Seniors:
Compatibility with Campfire mod (pending): Robbie922004's patch didn't work because I changed the name of the base ESP file. The easiest fix should be to simply change the name of Equippable Tomes - Extended.esp to Equippable Tomes.esp. My fool. Will be updated on next upload.
Compatibility with Ordinator mod (pending): Changed tomes recipe to require Novice, Apprentice, Adept, Expert and Master spell tree perks to show up in the crafting menu. Therefore, any mod that changes these aspects of the tree won't work. I'll try to think of a better solution than a single "patch".
summary
This mod builds on the original Equippable Tomes mod by adding magic items that amplify spell schools and can dispel illusions. These items include jewelry, robes, and vampire armor. Spelling school tomes were reimagined as Treatises, special books that could only be constructed to specific requirements. Added Grimoires, tomes that add (nearly) constant magical effects. All items, Tomes, Treatises and Grimoires can be found at vendors, NPCs and in Skyrim.
Zoom School of Magic
This magical effect does exactly what its name suggests: amplifies the effects of the School of Spells. This model follows the alchemy of Fortify potions - transmutation and summoning spells have increased duration, illusion spells effect higher level targets, and destruction and restoration spells are respectively more powerful and damage or heal more. Items containing this enchantment can be disenchanted and applied to the same standards as Fortify Spell School enchantments. In terms of ranking, Enchantment has the same proportions as Resist Magic. A more powerful amplification effect can be obtained by structuring the paper.
Tomes, Treatises and Grimoires
From the original Equippable Tomes mod, spelling school tomes have been renamed to Treatises to differentiate them from the custom items players might get from the untethered tomes. Papers are special books that are more powerful than custom books and need to be built using components and in the case of the most powerful reagents. Thesis cannot be disillusioned. However, the effects stack. Therefore, a character can effectively equip two Master of Destruction theses, gaining a combined bonus of +100% spell damage, +100% magic regeneration, and +200 magic points.
Grimoires are similar to Treatises in that they too cannot be disillusioned. However, the purpose of this type of tome is slightly different. Grimoires are used to apply (nearly) constant spell effects to characters. Multiple grimoires can be worn, but similar effects do not stack; i.e. w …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
