Aequinoctium - TrueStorms compatibility patch

Another compatible option for True Storms, this time Aequinoctium Weathers and Seasons. Of my recent games, I've personally been liking Aequinoctium because it contains all the same seasons and visual features as Obsidian, but is definitely the more colorful and fantasy-y of the two. Additionally, Aequinoctium is the culmination of all of Arindel's other fantastic weather models, including Rustic Weathers and Mythical Ages, and it certainly shows. If you want to inject more color into your weather while maintaining the same range and proportions as Obsidian, I highly recommend checking it out. Yes, Aequinoctium does come with its own True Storms patch, but as stated in its description, it only replaces the stormy weather audio and particles with stormy weather. As with all my previous patches, this is also to further juggle some of the visual aspects of both mods as well as those audio and particle systems for some extra customization of all your stormy weather :) I hope you'll enjoy it!

feature

Complete merger of all audio from Aequinoctium and True Storms, including 40+ thunder sounds and all ambient and indoor rain sounds. Special care was taken when distributing sounds throughout Aequinoctium's weather to provide as many sounds as possible, so no two storms should look or sound alike.

Redistributed all True Storm's unique weather to Aequinoctium's regions, paying special attention to maintaining Aequinoctium's unique seasonal system by adding some True Storm's unique weather in suitable regions. This means no rain or fog on snowy terrain like Winterhold.

Revamped Solstheim zone data to include all variations of the unique Ashes weather provided by True Storms, and adjusted the overall rarity of all Solstheim weather to increase variety in the zone. There is also an optional Wet & Cold patch which integrates all the unique ash weather it adds for all your ash related needs :)

There are two versions for visual preference. Both versions include all the features mentioned above, they simply change the aesthetics of stormy weather by adjusting things like ambient lighting, shading, fog settings, etc. None of the other different features of Euquinoctium have been changed.

Here's a general overview of the visuals available in both versions:

-Obscured-

This version retains much of Aequinoctium's stormy weather aesthetic while optionally incorporating some True Storms lighting and particles for an extra stormy feel. I spent a lot of time working on the fog levels in all stormy/rainy weather to remove the strong fog lines where they were heavily present (blizzards being a good example) and to introduce more background fog. What was previously lacking was a more "blurred" view of the distant landscape without it feeling overwhelming. If you just want a nice blend of True Storms' audio, particles, and weather into Aequinoctium's core visuals, this is the version for you.

-Abyssal-

This version incorporates more of the base aesthetic of Real Storm, while dimming the lights and removing the hazy fog effect, making it feel weatherproof without being too "in." I also replaced the original rain sound of the real storm with Aequinoctium, which will make the thunderstorm special feel and sound heavier. If you like the original aesthetic of True Storms or just want your storms to be as dark and ominous as possible, this might be the perfect version for you :)

The video below shows both versions to help you determine your preference. I'm using Lighting Overhaul (ELFX) and ENB (SkyrimSE Re-Engaged) for the videos and screenshots, so keep in mind that your version may differ based on your own ENB and mod setup. I've also included some extra shots of the really cool Solstheim weather that was added excl …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
