It's very simple, take a basic vanilla game and make it better with an easy to follow guide. All you need to know is how to install programs on your computer, how to read, and how to make your own decisions here and there.
I've been adding mods to my games for a few years now. I discovered mods when OGSkyrim came out. I'm not good at it, and over the years I've spent a lot of time with Fallout 3, New Vegas, Skyrim, and Fallout 4 around the time they released, and I've learned a lot. But the game I spent the most time playing and tinkering with was Skyrim.
In fact, I played it so much that I got bored of the vanilla matches and wanted a change. So as time went on and I looked at a lot of mods, I tried a bunch of different combinations, complete overhauls, hardcore stuff, and just for fun. What did I learn after all this time.
Complete overhaul
Guided tours are vast, comprehensive, and often very complex. It's worth it if you know every aspect of modeling and have the patience, but one mistake can crash the game.
Hardcore overhaul
For example, "Ultimate Horizon" and "Requiem for Horizon" are both cool and easier to install now if you follow the instructions. But they are too difficult for me to play.
for fun
Might be fun, but not really a real play-through I think.
different combinations
This is how I end up, when I'm modeling, I often just open every category of mods and search every page open for mods that I find interesting. I spent a month tweaking and re-tuning SSE, trying as many mods combinations as I could, until I began to realize that I liked some mods better than others. My template list has become more refined and stable over time, but it is by no means perfect.
Fortified Vanilla SSE
is my preferred combination of mods, filtered and simplified, so almost anyone should be able to run it and have a better vanilla experience. I'm going to make this guide easy to follow, but just know that a lot of other people are doing things that I probably wouldn't be. SSEEdits, cleaning plugins, modifying plugins, creating toolkit modifications, etc... all of which are outside the scope of what I know.
This guide is for those who want to take a moment to download and install the mods and then play the game. The most difficult thing on this list is running DynDoLOD, but this will be optional.

If this sounds good to you, let’s get started!
Part one:
A must for beginners.
If this is your first time modeling, I'd make it easy.
- Mod Organizer 2
Install, create your configuration file, I recommend changing the main path of the new folder to a larger hard drive or SSD that is not running your operating system. Then connect to.
- SKSE 64
The most important part, open 7-zip/WinRar (whatever you prefer) and drag everything in the folder to the SSE folder with the game EXE, not the data folder.
- Latest ENB binary files
Open the ZIP, open the 'Wrappers' folder and put only 'd3d11.dll' and 'd3d compiler_463.dll' into the game folder, we will deal with eNB later.
- Bethany
This will set up your INI file to be a better one and therefore make your game better. I know, good explanation, give the mod page a look and make it a habit for all mod pages. Extract the folder to wherever you want and run it, but make sure MO2 is closed!
- Wheelbash
I usually get the installer, it's simple and will be used later, just to install temporarily.
- Trophies:
To order a better plugin for you, all you have to do is download and install it, and when you open it, MO2 will be set as a running option.
- SKSE plug-in entry library
Download and install MO2, requi …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
