important:
Before installing this mod, make sure you are not wearing any modified enchantments!
Skyrim does not properly account for changes in enchantment effects, keeping your spell cost modifiers at the level they were when you had the previous enchantment, but then setting your spell power modifiers to 100% (including enchantments you have). The end result is that your spell will permanently be X% less costly (where X is the enchantment's total effect), but permanently be X% less powerful. If you choose to uninstall this mod for any reason, the same reverse applies when de-instilling any enchantments attached, so make sure you don't wear either. I will try to find a way to solve this problem.

This mod changes all original "Fortify [Magic Skills]" enchantments to increase the strength of destruction, illusion, and restorative spells and the duration of alter and incantation spells, instead of reducing the cost of those spells. It basically changes the enchantment to match its respective alchemical effect. This is done both to encourage mages to really focus on their magic, rather than just making enchantments cost more, and to provide a necessary power boost to the spells. The strength of these enchantments is the same as the enchantment that increases weapon damage, i.e. "Improved Archery".
It also adjusts all enchantments that "strengthen [Magic Skill] and Magicka Regen" so that not only do they increase in strength or duration (albeit at a slightly lower strength), but Magicka Regen scales with the player's enchantment skill. , which doesn't happen in vanilla. Due to the weirdness of the Creation Kit, it has to display the scaled player-enchanted magicka recovery percentage as "2 x [Skill Strengthening] %", so it will read "Destructive spells are 20% stronger and magicka regenerates 2 x 20% faster" instead of "Destructive spells are 20% stronger and magic cards regenerate 40% faster" which is the actual effect.
Enchantments changed by this mod:
Strengthen transformation
Reinforcement Modification and Magicka Regen
Enhanced destruction
Enhanced Destruction with Magicka Regen
Strengthen Summon
Strengthening Spells and Magicka Regen
Reinforce hallucinations
Strengthened Illusion and Magicka Regen
Enhance recovery
Strengthening Repair and Magicka Regen
The cost-reducing enchantments for some unique pieces of armor and jewelry have been retained in order to still provide some means of reducing the cost of spells:
Robes of the Archmage (all spell costs reduced by 15%)
Crown of the Wise (all spell costs reduced by 5%)
Amulet of Sathar (all spells cost 3% less)
Nahkriin (reduces the cost of destruction and restoration spells by 20%)
Vokun (20% reduced cost of alterations, spells and illusions)
I might consider making an alternative version of this mod that would allow these enchantments to be enhanced.
mistake:
I'm not aware of any issues or bugs in this mod yet, but if you find bugs or other issues with enchantments, please post them to the bugs section.
Install:
Use a mod manager, or simply manually place the esp file into the Skyrim SE data folder.
As mentioned above, make sure you are not wearing any vanilla enchantments that would be modified by this modification when installing or uninstalling.
compatibility:
This mod can edit the enchantments and magical effects of all the enchantments listed above, as well as the enchantments of Nightingale Hood, Shroud's Robe, and Night Web, and will likely conflict with other mods that also modify these enchantments or effects. Mods using the vanilla "Strengthen [Magic Skill]" enchantment will still be changed by this mod.

IMPORTANT:
Before installing this mod, make sure you are not wearing anything with any of the modified enchantments!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
