about

A simple pattern to fix something that was long overdue. The default game humanoid eyebrow mesh has flawed shader settings, which causes transparency to fail and effects such as ambient occlusion and IBL to be applied. Bright lights mask this flaw, but in shaded environments and in certain directions, it becomes very obvious. ENB preset authors try to hide this in AO/IBL's settings, but that's as effective as applying a bandage to an infected wound. This is of no use. The solution is to apply shader settings from the hair to eyebrow meshes - they are also hair meshes. Simply stupid. This is an important flaw that Bethesda should fix in an update, but sadly they don't care about their product and won't. So I did it for them.

What does this MOD do?

Fixed defective humanoid eyebrow mesh. You'll see a difference with any player character, but sadly the flawed mesh is baked into the FaceGen mesh in the human NPCs. The same goes for any custom NPCs. Face masks all need to be regenerated - alternatively, the brow mesh settings in FaceGen need to be edited in Nifskope before the fix can be applied. Whatever you do, don't regenerate custom NPC faces in CK thinking you'll fix them this way. Most of them are customizable through RaceMenu or ECA, so all you have to do is make a horse-faced character with fixed eyebrows. You have been warned! The solution is to ask the mod author to fix it for you. Be patient. They all have lives outside the mold. If you're not using ENB, then I don't think this pattern will be of much help to you.

How to use

It is recommended to install NMM. Manually, just unzip the archive and place the contents in the data folder.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
