About this mod Machine translation

Make Skyrim great again with Miracle FPS improvements.

First, as of version 1.9, eFPS - External FPS Boost is almost in its final release. New releases will be for some extensions or bug fixes, but for now the project is very stable. Our goal is to make this mod a must-have, thanks to the advantages it brings in terms of optimization and performance. eFPS - External FPS boosts only cover the externals - Skyrim Project Optimization SE already covers the internals.

eFPS - External FPS Boost makes extensive use of a native engine feature called Occlusion Culling. Occlusion panes have been strategically placed manually to improve performance without affecting visibility and immersion. These panes are typically placed inside walls, houses, mountains, and any large objects, greatly reducing draw calls. In our testing, we detected speed improvements of 5-20 FPS in certain key areas. Developers and modders almost never implement occlusion culling in Skyrim because it's both a subtle and tedious process. eFPS - External FPS Boost is the first mod of its kind! Anyway, we put thousands of occlusion panes and boxes one by one

Placed in a large portion of the map. These panes are placed inside walls, houses, large objects, mountains, etc., and it significantly reduces draw calls (meaning 5 to 20 FPS gains in certain key areas).

Of course, performance gains are inversely proportional to the computer's power. If you have a very, very, very powerful PC, you may only see a small increase in FPS. On the other hand, the idea of this mod is to improve performance, especially for those who don't have a super powerful PC.

For version 2.2, we’re happy to announce that we’ve covered approximately 95% of the entire Skyrim region.

Given the large number of questions related to this topic and the fact that many people have neither read the FAQ nor the description of the mod, we are posting the answer directly here

XLODgen's occlusion, XLOGgen's terrain, Dyndolod do not conflict with our mods, they are two completely different things, so

avoid asking it

From now on, we allow patching of this mod. There is only one mandatory requirement: our mod must always be required as a base. We obviously won't support patches made by others, we will monitor them. On our discord channel we will always keep a list of patches we are working on, so please adjust accordingly.

Let’s move on to the (slightly) bad news!

existing save

Long story short, we recommend starting a new game while installing this mod. We haven't quite figured out how eFPS will perform on existing archives. One of our testers reported an FPS drop on their very old heavily modded save file, while getting the expected FPS boost in a new game. Other testers with updated save files reported no issues with eFPS and could benefit from the FPS boost without having to start from scratch. Still, we think it's safer to start a new game and this is our official advice.

Incompatible mods

As of now, mods that move or delete existing architecture are not compatible with eFPS. We are currently working on patches for the most popular mods, but this is a time-consuming process. We are creating a specific patch center. In the meantime, you can join our Discord for early access to the alpha patch!

This needs to be ESM or when we will make a patch you will have issues and this mod is designed for new games as written in the compatibility section. Don't ask about our version without the ESM logo as it means nothing. Let the loot order this.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
