describe

Ever wonder why you can't see your left hand weapon in Skyrim? As for the staffs, they don't disappear into thin air when wrapped! You said you wanted to put your shield on your back? Look no further!

Current features:

Left hand weapon and sheath.

The shield stored on the back moves based on cape/no cape.

The staff is stored on the back.

All current DLC is supported.

Compatible with Mod Configuration Menu (MCM).

SkyProc patches make it easy to integrate custom shield, staff, or weapon mods with no effort required. (Mesh bag required!)

Supports custom races (must use compatible skeleton).

This mod is the spiritual successor to DarkPhoenixxy's DSpSoB, which unfortunately has remained in obscurity and has many unresolved issues as the author seems to have abandoned support. Although I didn't use any of his assets for this file, he came up with the original mod that inspired me to make this version.

Require

Skyrim v1.9.32.0 or higher

SKSE v1.7.1 or higher

Version SkyUI v4.1 or higher for MCM functionality (use SkyUI-Away if you don't like visual changes)

Java Runtime Environment 8 Update 45 or higher

Version XP32 Max skeleton extension (highly recommended) or other skeleton to support left hand weapon, back shield and back node staff.

Recommended modules

Immersive Animations - Animations for this mod. Should be installed before XP32 Maximum Skeleton.

Fores New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS v6.0.1 or later - Fixed most animation issues when using new animations/skeletons. XP32 Maximum Skeleton Extended is required.

Install

  • Install the mod and any required grid packages using your favorite mod management utility.
  • Activate Dual Sheath Redux.esp. You can sort this mod anywhere you like, since nothing changes from the vanilla form.
  • Run the installed Dual Sheath Redux Patch.jar located in Data/SkyProc Patchers/Dual Sheath Redux Patch (if using multiple SkyProc patches, use SUM but do not merge). This should be done after installing any mods that add base weapons, staves, or shields, including other SkyProc mods such as Lootification. This step should be redone every time one of these mods is added, updated, or removed, otherwise you may get a CTD on startup due to a missing master file.
  • Click [Patch] on the patch window, this may take a while depending on the number of mods you have installed. Please wait.
  • Activate the generated Dual Sheath Redux Patch.esp (this should be loaded after all the mods listed above).
  • Run the game and enjoy!

If you need extra help getting this mod working, GamerPoets has put together a very good and accurate tutorial video for this mod and it's required/recommended dependencies. This tutorial is intended for use with Mod Organizer.

Alternatively, you can use Slothability's tutorial for Mod Manager users:

uninstall

While there is no completely clean save, performing the following procedure will ensure that there are no running scripts in the save file.

  • Load your game and click Uninstall on the Start/Stop tab of the MCM menu and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Overwrite the save or create a new save. Make sure to repeat this for any other saves you wish to clear.
  • Uninstall/delete the mod and all created dynamic files in your mod manager, including: Dual Sheath Redux Patch.esp in the data folder and all folders/files under SkyProc Patchers/Dual Sheath Redux Patch.

4.! important! Load the saves you made in step 2 and overwrite them one by one again.

Important notes

The base game and the Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLC contain a mod …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
